This breaking news needed its own thread. Apparently, there are going to be some changes. It is rumored that Zach won't be returning as the director for any DC films, and the director of the standalone Batman movie wants a fresh face as Batman, so Ben won't be playing Batman in a solo film. Hmm... I wonder who is next on the chopping block. No one is safe, other than Gal and Jason M.

More moving pieces, but this one was working with Zach. I don't see how much of a difference this will make, if they are trying to move away from Zach's dribble.
This quotes sums it up:

Brandon is doing fine on DC's Legends of Tomorrow as The Atom...perfect fit for him if I do say so myself!

Yeah, that's great, but he said in his interview that he passed up jobs, waiting on that sequel that never came.

Interesting she is the third exec with an Asian background that rose in the ranks of WB/DC (the other two being Hamada and Tsujira). It would be interesting to see if they could give some ‘stability’ in the House of WB/DC.So far it seems total chaos in that house — lots of shake-ups in the exec ranks; exits of screenwriters, directors in films; ex-directors having a petty go at their fellow directors through social media, not to mention the other stuff Ratner brought in.

I've noticed that too.
I don't know. I think they should do away w/this whole competition w/Marvel and step away from superhero movies. It's obvious they can't compete, and they bring nothing original to the table. I'm glad they greenlight Crazy Rich Asians, because it sounds like something I want to see. Plus, it appears as if it will have some flavor and will go beyond the bland one-color predominantly on the screen.

Once upon a time it was WB/DC who was leading in the comic book genre and Marvel was the one disorganised and struggling. I cannot imagine WB to letting go of DC as they’d been together for ages (ie Batman used to appear in the campy Scooby Doo series of Hanna Barbera before HB became part of WB).
WB’s straight to video DC animated movies are quite good, better sometimes than what Snyder came up with, so maybe they just need a different set of writers and directors for the movies, and possibly a reboot.

Ancient history. Perhaps, there needs to be some time to distance the DC name from the shyt that WB smeared on it.
A reboot? Oh, the horror from the few diehard DC fans, who stuck it out and want to see this thing to fruition, but I do agree a reboot is needed.
Still, DC has an uphill battle. Their name has been tainted. Then, you have Black Panther pretty much changing the whole superhero genre and DC can't even compete with the old Marvel.

I STILL think the current DCEU can work. They gotta aim smaller, focus on solo movies before another team up film is pushed. Aquaman & Shazam is a good start. Flash (or Flashpoint) movie (if cast members start to drop, it'd be a good idea to move this up) & maybe a Cyborg solo film & get the damn Batman trilogy underway! A kick ass Wonder Woman 2 & Suicide Squad 2 would help! Add a movie or drop a movie here & there & I think they can right the ship! That's just me.

What ancient history? WB’s DC TV shows are quite strong, and they still get a lot from merchandising.
WB DC’s movie fortunes are just going through a dark patch right now, but eventually with the right creative force behind it, it’ll rise up again, as with the case of Batman when Clooney’s movie shut down that franchise for a while then Christopher Nolan resurrected.
It depends on what you mean by ‘changing the superhero genre’. If you mean having a predominantly non-Caucasian cast, then yes that’s quite a big change.
But story/plot wise, and the pattern of a superhero movie, nothing new. In fact, I couldn’t help but notice that Black Panther’s plot and characters are a bit similar to Disney’s the Lion King. For me the one that made go ‘whoa’ that’s totally different in terms of style, plot or depth was Deadpool, Logan and Watchmen, and some of the straight to video DC animated movies.

I hope it works — I’m rooting for a second Suicide Squad, a future Justice League Dark and a Flashpoint movie. I don’t mind another Batman trilogy, but I would like it to introduce new aspects of Batman’s character, for example introducing the character of his son Damien and his troubled history with him. I wouldn’t mind seeing a version of the Hush storyline too.
I’m personally not a big fan of Gal’s Wonder Woman, so I’m rooting for another DC strong female character — Batgirl, Batwoman, Zatana, or even the promised Sirens movie (Harley Quin, Poison Ivy and the other ‘bad girls’ of DC).

It all comes down to numbers and sense. TV/animation is cheaper to produce, and I agree the stories are better. However, fixing the film division is costly. It's possible for the studio to produce cheaper films and reap a bigger profit.

I think it's everything. The look reminded me of Avatar.
Re: Deadpool
It was hard for me to watch. I get that it was different and a bit raunchy, but I didn't drink the Koolaide on that one.

Time Warner, parent company of WB and DC (division of WB), may sell off WB if the merger doesn't happen.

Have seen this news for a while but didn’t bother posting it. It has been getting exhausting and repetitive to hear of WB’s woes.
So if AT&T merger plans doesn’t happens, who’ll get WB? It would be a riot if Disney also manages to acquire the DC brand!
(But I suppose anti-trust laws may also start applying if Disney makes a move for WB.)
I wonder if Paramount who has also been lagging behind in terms of movie hits will make a move?

Well, Disney could just buy the DC division of WB and leave WB for another buyer.
Most likely WB might fall into foreign hands.
