This breaking news needed its own thread. Apparently, there are going to be some changes. It is rumored that Zach won't be returning as the director for any DC films, and the director of the standalone Batman movie wants a fresh face as Batman, so Ben won't be playing Batman in a solo film. Hmm... I wonder who is next on the chopping block. No one is safe, other than Gal and Jason M.

Yes, I saw it before you posted it. Very interesting indeed that they confirmed that they were unhappy with the work Snyder was delivering, including Snyder’s decision to make Steppenwolf to be the baddie for JL. (But colour me skeptical when the ‘execs’ thought that early that there were problems with Snyder’s work, because I’m sure they’ll be saying a different tune if the DC movies did very well under Snyder. I find that execs are quite quick to either take credit when things go right and lay blame when things go wrong... I do find it surprising they stuck by him given they were that ‘unhappy’. Why was that?)
I am not surprised if they want to re-cast Batman. Like I always said, actors in superhero movies are easily replaceable and there had been a lot of Batmans that worked for WB. Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) is the only actor I know who has continuously played a superhero for quite a long time that it’s almost hard to think of someone else playing Wolverine.
IMO, Gal is the only one on solid footing for now. I wouldn’t say Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa are on solid ground. That would depend on how well their solo movies are going to turn out in the box office. There’s a lot of love for Momoa, but Ezra Miller as the Flash seems to be another divisive thing. As for Henry Cavill, well, so far there is no green light for a second MOS apart from stories that it is ‘being developed’. Only Shazam has been greenlit.
What I am surprised is that there is no mention about what’s going to happen to Kevin Tsujihara. As I recall his predecessor didn’t last long after MOS underperformed in the box office.
IMO, the shake-up in WB/DC will become even stronger after the AT&T acquisition of WB, regardless of what Tsujihara says in this article.

There are bigger fish playing in the WB pond. It is difficult to believe no further shake-ups will happen. More worried about the people in the lower ranks. They’re the ones who take the brunt of the decisions made by the people up above (they get hit even though it’s not their fault).

That is the million dollar question. Why did they stick with him? Zach must have had some dirt on someone. LOL.
I've always said this too. The biggest example is when they fired Spidey.
I only included Jason in the mix, because he finished filming Aquaman. Therefore, he is good until the premiere of that film, and the same goes for Gal. WW is greenlit, so she is good for that.
I think he sees the writing on the wall. That's why he didn't push back the release date. He wanted his bonus while it was in his sights. Taking a risk and pushing it back would have jeopardized his bonus.
No doubt there will be some people made redundant.
Well, they knew how fickle their fields were when they signed up for them.

Interesting.
Poor thing better use some of that energy for other projects.

Well, his manager (Dany Garcia) is helping him out with that.

Another shakeup:

If the studio is being shaken up, is the DCEU also being shaken up with a reboot and new cast members? This is the question I want answered.

Time will tell. If there is a JL2, there will be changes for sure.
What we do know is that there will be a new director, who will want to add his or her own special touches to the cast.
Rumor is that Ben wants out as Batman. He may do a standalone Batman, but who knows about JL2.
I do think that WB will continue to make DC films, because they are keeping the division.
Whether they make a JL2 is up in the air, though.

I can see both happening.
That's why I can see it happening.

I kinda like Ben Affleck in the role of Batman. A bit surprising since I thought Christian Bales Batman (despite the stupid disguised voice he used) was the best Batman. But if he is replaced, it is no big deal for me because I’m used to it. Superhero actors or actresses get replaced all the time, so I’m more tied to the comic book character than the actor.
I think Jon Hamm does have that Bruce Wayne look (better than Jack Gyllenhaal who I actually like). Only thing is that Hamm also had some alcohol problems. Affleck had the same problem, so is DC taking another risk with casting Hamm?
As for HC, it is quite noticeable how quickly he aged from MOS through to BvS and JL. I think the intense workout he’s been doing is contributing to it. (Don’t see Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth or even Chris Pratt aging as much as he had.). The stupid (facial) beard he has been keeping ain’t helping either. Overall, I think if he shaved, and has a nice haircut, he’d still be ok to be Superman. He’s still better looking than George Reeves...
If he does lose the role as Superman, perhaps it would free him to do better movies and his career prospects will improve. If he goes back to TV where actors are given better character arcs in a great TV series will do wonders for him. I think.

True. We all know what happened when Bryan Singer took over the Superman movie and replaced McG as director.
We also know what happened to Andrew Garfield, once Spider-Man was brought back to the fold of Marvel/Disney.

Yes, WE ALL KNOW but does HC? Will he go down like Brandon Roth, still holding out hope for a sequel?

@Poetist LOL, pretty sure Brandon moved on.

I think what Poetist meant was that there were rumours that Brandon didn’t know that HC replaced him as Superman until a little bit too late, because he was expecting to wear the cape again even if Singer’s Superman movie underperformed. So, it doesn’t hurt if HC has more projects in the pipeline rather than always assuming that he can fall back on a Superman role.
With the shake-up in WB/DC, anything can happen...
Happy New Year, MDBAddict! Brace yourself for more bytches bytchyng next year on this board! LOL!
