OK, I thought they were going to continue following the "Before the 90 Days" people, but apparently not.
So, I just tuned in tonight and I already know two of the people who are on this. I didn't remember Molly until she mentioned the show she used to have with her business partner. It was a very uncomfortable show to watch. I think I tuned in for about one, maybe two episodes before I stopped watching.
Then there's Nicole and Azan. This is the first I'm hearing of her daughter. I remember her from being on the show before. She's sweet, but I remember thinking at the time that she really needed to grow up (I know she was young then, so that was part of the problem) and she needed to understand more about his culture. Of course he's not going to be affectionate with her in public. That's not the way his culture is. And I don't think him being here is going to change that. The thing about her story though, is that I remember watching her two or three years ago at least, but she's saying it's only been a year since she met Azan??? Or is it that this stuff is taped a year or more in advance? And from what little I've seen, she still strikes me as someone who needs more maturity. OK, here's my problem with Nicole's family. The mother isn't very different from mine. "You need to grow up. You're not mature enough." But then she doesn't let Niclole grow up and learn what she needs to learn because she's always trying to control what Nicole does. So of course Nicole is going to be emotionally immature and insecure. Her mother is doing more harm than good. And she's so critical. So of course Nicole is ALWAYS going to go on the defensive with her. It's a disaster waiting to happen. And Morocco is not the place for Nicole, but her mother is going to drive her straight to living in that country just so she can get away from her mom. Which means she'll go essentially from one controlling situation to another. NOT GOOD.
The rest I'm waiting to see. Although the girl from Thailand (unless there's someone else I'm thinking of and just confusing her with the girl from Thailand) is reminding me of Anfisa. I hope I'm wrong in this. OK, yep, I'm confusing Annie with the other girl. Sorry about that. Still trying to learn everyone's names since tonight is the first night I've watched this season.
Yep, I'm concerned about David and Annie. David concerns me because he's living WAY beyond his means and just like Jorge, I don't think he's told Annie that he doesn't have any money. Strikes me as another Jorge and Anfisa waiting to happen.

Considering that's pretty much what she said, yeah, lol. And he's happy with the way things are, so I'm not sure how that will play out. If he doesn't agree to either find a new place just for themselves or tell the roommates they have to move (which I don't see happening unless the house is in his name, and even then, I don't see him willing to lose his friendship with them over this), she's going back to the Philippines.

The Good:
Aika and Josh. I think they will be my fav couple. She is a pistol, not the stereotypical demure Asian woman. Josh is in for quite a ride with her, I think.
Molly and Luis: I literally laugh my head off every time one of them speaks. The drama with her daughters could bring this one down, though. Boundaries, Luis, boundaries.
The bad:
Elizabeth and Lurch. She will constantly have to monitor her words and behaviour to avoid aggravating his temper, control and authority issues. Bad news.
Evelyn and David. A perfect match. A d-head and and an airhead. I already hate them both with a passion.
The weird: Larry and Annie. Something just doesn't add up here. It seems he has been in Thailand for a while and has courted other girls. Does that mean they have not applied for the K1? Didn't someone say that he has to be in the US to start that process? And what is up with his friends giving him all that money. Who does that? None of this makes any sense.
I'm so over it:
AzNic. I forgot what a horndog she is. Poor Azan, I think he did, too. I think I will be fast forwarding through their scenes from now on.

I like that she stands up for herself, but she's still stupid to go for a broke man into a foreign country.
I'm not buying Luis' game. The End.
Darcy and Jesse 2.0.
Agreed.
They had another young country who started out like this. The girl was living in South America to live with her former boy-bander. I believe they are divorced now.
Nope! I'll be posted front row for the circus act.

Poetist, are you confusing Aika for Annie? I like Aika, too. And I don't know that Josh is broke. But it would help if they could have their own apartment.
But to me, Annie is the weird one deciding to marry the 50 yr old sad sack guy with no money, home, job, anything who gets funded by his creepy friend haha

Yeah, I did confuse the two, but she is stupid to hop on a plane to go live with a broke man. I'm sure he's living with roommates, because his money isn't right, especially after two divorces.

Where to begin with this batch of misfits?
Poor Annie, her mother made a comment about how she can now support her parents and her family. As I suspected, she has been pressured into this marriage. Then to find out that he does not have the financial stability they think he does. She is now at the mercy of his pervy friend Chris too.
I like Aika more every week, she is the one person I can say that about with this bunch. No way she is going anywhere, too much invested, but seriously Josh. No woman wants an engagement ring that was worn by your fiance's ex.
I stated in a previous post that I like Molly but WHAT WAS I ON? Maybe I had drunk a little too much wine that night. She must be seriously in need of validation by a man to think that he is her soul mate. To subject her daughters to this? There is no excuse.
David and Evelyn, I can barely watch their scenes. They are both just so unlikeable. Not in a love to hate, laugh at, way, just plain go away unlikeable.
AzNic, its a more than a little uncomfortable set up to laugh at the fat, trailer trash chick. I kind of hate myself that I continue to watch, but part of me still thinks this relationship is fake. We are into season 2 and I don't think they have even begun the K1 visa process.
Elizabeth and Andrei, there is just no way she is going to put up with his Eastern European ideas about gender roles forever. I get the feeling that she is kind of spoiled and a daddy's girl, so maybe she is used to a man telling her what to do.

I thought the mother knew that David didn't have money, when he asked for a discount on the bride.
Initially, they couldn't begin the process, because Nicole didn't make enough money, and she couldn't find sponsers for Azan.
She's a spoiled daddy's girl, but she's not used to anyone telling her what to do. Right now, she just doesn't want to look like a fool for backing out of this relationship.

johnnie black the aquarius, I agree with you about Annie and her mom. I interpreted that scene in the same way. It was kinda sad. Sending the daughter off to America to supply the family with money. And yes, they know David isn't rollin' in the dough, but I guess they still think they'll be getting some financial support out of it. Or she can get a job there eventually and send money back, etc.
Nicole and Azan. Yeesh. like we've said before. Just call it quits. They seem to have nothing in common. And for once I was feeling Nicole's pain at Azan just ditching her alone in her room. I went to visit someone once and they did that a few times and I was ready to just pack up and leave if they did it again. It's lonely and awkward. Granted, I sit alone in my room at home a lot, but when you specifically go to visit someone and they keep ditching you in a strange place...it sucks. So yeah, he wants a fit babe, she doesn't seem to want to compromise on many things -- they just don't seem compatible. I kinda liked Azan's friend though, not sure why lol.
Evelyn and David. Yeah, nah. Same comment as last time. He just keeps whining and she's just really stubborn and not willing to budge on anything. He doesn't seem to like her at all. Maybe he likes being the "poor me" one. And she just wants everything her way all the time with no compromise. fun. They're not on the same page at all. He did seem to like her singing, so there's that
Whatever, so far I'm still team Andrei. The "women driving" comment was weird but I feel like TLC wants to run with the plot-line of him being a chauvinist more than he actually is. I feel like he's reasonable most of the time, if not cocky. He definitely likes to have up a macho, non-weak front, but he doesn't seem like a bad person (yet). I kinda expected him to make the bedstand by himself though, that's when a man comes in handy, lol!! (I know I know, bad gender stereotyping). But it's nice she helped ;)
Aika -- I think 12k for a ring is stupid, too much. However I would not want to wear an "ex's" ring at all, either. I'd ask for a new one that wasn't too expensive. It reminds of that scene in Beetlejuice when Beetlejuice is marrying Lydia and he finds a ripped off finger of his dead ex wife and takes the ring directly form there and puts it on Lydia's finger. lol. Just, who wants that! Josh doesn't seem to be putting in a lot of effort for Aika.
Oh, Molly and Luis. I don't get her going on about true love and all that. I'm just not feelin it. I can see she really wants to get married. But to pretend that he is some deep true love soulmate is silly. I think they probably have good sexual chemistry and that's it. And then the next scene, Luis is all "I want to go home lol"

Thank you for crawling out of your hole in the sand and responding to my post, oh little crab.
I agree that TLC is pushing the chauvinist angle with Andrei. Elizabeth seems to be setting that up when she talks to him about certain things. That said, I don't think it's completely made up. I think he has very traditional ideas about gender roles and she seems to be changing her personality to be with him, at least according to family and friends. That usually doesn't work over the long haul.
Doesn't the ring shopping scene happen every season? It felt pretty scripted to me.

That guy is crazy. Mark my words! Craaaaazzy! He's Jesse 2.0. Sure, he's a little bit what you said, Jonnie, but he's much more than a chauvinist. A harmless chuavinist is more like Alexi. To me, there is an air of tension w/Elizabeth. She never counters him and or she carefully chooses her words. I sense too that this won't work in the long run.
It happened three times but this is only the second time on 90 Day Fiance. The other time was Happily Ever After.

I tend to see Elizabeth blabbing on to him even if he's annoyed (Andrei). I'm still not seein' it the way you are! But maybe I'm blind to certain red flags. He does seem impatient and direct, and maybe eventually they'll get on each other's nerves and it'll get worse. But, he just seems unusual as far as what Americans are used to be not creepy like Jesse yet. From the get-go, Jesse was making these passive-aggressive stabs and insults to Darcy. It seemed like he was constantly trying to humiliate her. Whereas Andrei does say nice things and just seems set in wanting to come across as "the man" but not really in a bad way (yet, in my opinion). Not saying I'd go marry him buut. But watch, later in the news we'll see he gets arrested for choking her or something and I'll be like welp, I was wrong . And at least he did have a kind of reasonable/attainable goal (to be a truck driver). Not like "I will be a famous model" or "I will just ride on her coattails." I believed him saying it was important to him to be able to provide as soon as he would be able to, etc. And this might sound cliché but sometimes countries with tougher conditions will produce people who have a very non-whining, "can do," tough attitude. I spent some time in Romania (the Hungarian area) and it was a little like that, though maybe not as extreme as him. But just a kind of "suck it up already" way of thinking.
jonnieblack, the litte crab sand hole comment made me smile ;). And you're right, the ring thing is probably at least partly scripted. If the "ex's ring" part is true, it's possible the $12k thing isn't. Maybe they just told her to want a really expensive one to play up the drama. But deep down, she doesn't care about THAT so much as just getting a different one. Or that entire subplot is fake. Who knows with this dumb show tryna fake us out all the time now :/
