Discuss Star Trek

With a nod to rudely_murray over at the Kevin Bacon thread, let's play 6 degrees of TOS! The rules: You name an actor, and the next poster has to link that actor to one of the Big 3 (Shatner, Nimoy, or Kelley) in as few moves as possible. Ideally 6 or less, hence, 6 degrees.

Example:

Player 1 names Bruce Lee.

Player 2 responds:

  1. Bruce Lee starred in Enter the Dragon with John Saxon.
  2. John Saxon starred in an episode of The Six Million Dollar Man with Lee Majors.
  3. Lee Majors starred with William Shatner when he guest starred in an episode of The Six Million Dollar Man.

Player 2 then names another actor to link to one of the Big 3.

Feature films or TV shows only. Try not to select names which would be too easy, like linking Shatner to Patrick Stewart is no challenge!

Okay, here goes...

First try: Marlon Brando.

When Spirit left we had no idea where she went.. She came back for a visit the following year but then disappeared.

It's sad the foundation can't track them.

Nowadays, with all the tracking technology available, it should be possible, but probably too expensive.

If they're not tagged with a CPS tracker, then it's not possible.

Have you seen him in Prodigal Son. There are two seasons, and to wrap up the story properly, there should have been a third which never eventuated. Damn it, great series.

At mark 0.46 . What's going on with Spock's hair? How much did they spend on this series.. you can see it's a wig ..talking about Shatner's rug in the original series. They had a budget issue, but what excuse does the director have here ?

And his sideburns, did they use shoe polish, at mark 1.39.

Well, it was on my watch list, but never got around to see it. Now, with a cliffhanger at the end of season 2, I'll just wait and see if there is ever a resolution. Perhaps a movie, like with "Firefly (2002)".

The budget per episode of (S)SNW is about $7-10 million. {S)TOS had a budget that was about $190,000 per episode. Adjusted for inflation, (S)SNW is about four times more expensive. It seems like the producers are only trying to make - unsuccessfully - NuSpock look like the original Spock, while the other main characters, like Pike, Christine, Uhura, Una, Kirk, etc. don't even resemble the original ones. If the story line was good - without any retconning - like in "Star Trek Continues", it won't have mattered if the characters don't look exactly like the originals.

Thanks for the insight, wonder.. Yes, Peck physically reminds me somewhat of Nimoy/Spock but Nimoy's hair never looked like a wig. To me, that is distracting.

DON'T YOU SEE his hair is badly styled in the video I sent you? YOU can see it is fake.

It didn't end on a traditional cliffhanger. We know what happens, but you are left wanting more.

Fans set up a partition for a third and last season. Last I saw, it was at 70,000 signatures in three years of partition. Clearly, it's never going to happen.. You should watch the first two seasons. It does have an intense ending.

The story is very original. I binge-watched the two seasons in 3/4 days.

I sent you a video and indicated the time mark where to watch. You can clearly see Peck is wearing IN THAT PARTICULAR SCENE, a wig because it has been put on very poorly by the hairstylist. For all the money spent to make this series, it's very unprofessional. And I find it distracting.

For some reason, you don't want to acknowledge it. No big deal , topic closed.

Patrick Melrose 2018 with Benedict Cumberpatch and Irene Jacob ( in the first episode)

Benedict played Khan in "Into the Darkness" Nimoy made a cameo.

I saw this 5-part series, and it was great, especially part 2 when the main character is a child. Hugo Weaving is disgustingly brilliant in this series too.

@sunshine62 Ciao. Hope your having a good weekend. relaxed

Scusa, my short reply was confusing. What I meant to say was, that though it is clear that he wore a wig in that scene, I was also considering if it could be a bad CGI wig or whether the real wig got unstuck during an action scene - due to no fault of the hair and make-up designer - and went unnoticed during filming and editing. I was asking myself too if he always wears a wig when playing Spock, because whenever asked about his transformation into Spock, he only talks about his eyebrows and ear prosthetics

When you spend millions on a production, a wig malfunction is unacceptable. and it's not just in that scene. In the scene where he yells to Chapel in the corridor: I'm warning you, back off" , his wig is strange in the centre of his head. (Sorry I cant locate the clip in question )

I'm sure he is wearing a wig, but that's fair enough, to save his hair from deteriorating. The wig should fit perfectly, though so it is not a distraction.

I just finished reading some comments on Reddit about Peck's hair. Others apparently have noticed it's askew, too. One replied, saying he thought it was supposed to represent Spock's turbulent emotional state. laughing
