Discuss Henry Cavill

New Gods is the new addition to the DCEU.

Ava DuVernay is stepping into the superhero universe. The filmmaker has come on board to direct “New Gods” at Warner Bros. as part of the studio’s DC Extended Universe. “New Gods,” based on the DC Comics series of the same name, is aimed at creating a new universe of properties for the studio.

DuVernay directed Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” becoming the first woman of color in Hollywood to helm a live-action film with a production budget of $100 million.

The New Gods are natives of the twin planets of New Genesis and Apokolips. New Genesis is an idyllic planet ruled by the Highfather, while Apokolips is a dystopia filled with machinery and fire pits ruled by the tyrant Darkseid. New Genesis and Apokolips call themselves gods, living outside of normal time and space in a realm known as the Fourth World.

ZACK SNYDER RUMORED FOR WONDER WOMAN 3

With WW84 turning out to be such an epic disaster, it's now claimed that Zack Snyder might be brought in to save the franchise and direct Wonder Woman 3.

GR is trying to pimp up her sugar daddy’s crappy film by making it seem more important than it is. She likes to create drama. Well, she’ll be pleased to know that some PJ fans and the feminists, who hated how she made WW pine for decades for ST, want to boycott the ZS cut.

I agree with Grace in that it probably is a good idea for Zack Snyder to director Wonder Woman 3, as not only did Zack Snyder first cast Gal Gadot for his Batman vs. Superman, but Zack also came up with the story for the first Wonder Woman movie and had Allan Heinberg write the script who wrote Wonder Woman comic books […]

ZS was one of the many producers of WW17 and one of the three men with “story by” next to their name. So why should we assume that WW17 turned better than WW84 because of ZS? RatPack was one of the production companies that helped produce WW17, but WB cut ties with them after the scandal. So someone else had to fill that void. WW84 was horrible. No doubt about that. But ZS’ BvS was worse!

What also is particularly alarming is that the shill media gave WW84 a high batch of initial advanced reviews, which saw the flick's Rotten Tomatoes score skyrocket, but once the movie was able to be reviewed normally, the WW84 Rotten Tomatoes score plummeted to 59% Rotten; so taking away those first batch of fake reviews, the Rotten Tomatoes score should even be lower. Not good. By comparison, the first movie sits at 93% Fresh, again which was from a story by Snyder.

The shill media happened with WW17 too.

Solzy at the Movies: What does this say?  It says the studio is being selective in who sees their films early.  This isn’t old news.  Look at who are the first people to comment on social media.  The same thing happened for films like Shazam! and Aquaman.  It also happened for the first Wonder Woman film in 2017.  The current practices need to change.  I will continue to be outspoken for future films getting a day-and-date release.  The selectivity in who gets to see a film early for review needs to stop.

So take away those first batch of fake reviews and WW17’s RT score may not be 93%. But I don’t think it would be rotten.

Subscribe to HBOM for one month and watch three new films. Which one made you subscribe? $15 for three films and everything else on HBOM from 03/18 to 04/18. rolling_eyes

WB doesn’t want anybody to say that a lot of people subscribed to HBOM because of ZSJL. laughing

@Triksy said:

You don’t need any scooper to tell you that. It’s clear that ZSJL isn’t a priority for WB by the place they’ve positioned it on their launch schedule.

03/18 – ZSJL
03/19 – D+’s Falcon & The Winter Soldier (announced 12/10/2020)
03/31 – GvK (03/24 in Europe, India, Taiwan & 03/26 in China)
04/16 – Mortal Kombat

Subscribe to HBOM for one month and watch three new films. Which one made you subscribe? $15 for three films and everything else on HBOM from 03/18 to 04/18. rolling_eyes

I think that the higher-ups don’t think that ZSJL can pull in a lot of subscribers. They want HBOM’s Q1 to end with a lot of new subscribers and they seem to think that GvK can guarantee that surge. At the same time, you won’t be able to tell which film pulled in more subscribers. rofl

GR likes to start drama and some think that ZS supports the toxic online environment that his fans create. His fans seem to have attacked critics and people who don't like his work. It's obvious that GR doesn’t like PJ, because she believes PJ booted ZS from WW84 to side with GJ. She doesn’t like GJ either.

PJ has to direct Cleopatra and a Star Wars film. So fans are worried it’ll take to long to make WW3. Some think that PJ will help produce WW3 while another female director will direct it. And they might be right. The trend right now is that a female director will direct a film with a female lead. There’s no way WB execs would even think about letting ZS or any man direct WW3. They wouldn’t risk that backlash. So I’m sure GR’s talking out of her arse again. Or like you said, she’s trying to pimp up her sugar daddy’s film. Her sources didn’t tell her crap. rolling_eyes

Read this: The next morning, the Snyders received the call asking if they'd like to release the Snyder Cut on HBO Max. The initial offer was to put the cut, as it was, on the streaming service, without investing the money to complete the vision. So the Snyders got to work, and with the help of CAA, prepared a presentation showcasing the reach #TheSnyderCut had on social media."We compared that to the top shows on Netflix, so we could then make the comparison of what the power of this fanbase was and how that translated into subscribers for HBO Max," says Deborah Snyder. "When they were like, 'Well, we don't want to spend the money on this,' and then you are like 'OK, but, you do see there's an upside?'"

We’ll never know the upside. WB had no valid reason to move GvK from May 21 to March. The only reason I can think of is that they don’t want the Snyders’ CAA to be right. There are more Q’s. What’s so special about Q1? Subscribers will see three films now for $15 and than unsuscribe. Instead of more, HBOM’s Q2 might have less subscribers.

Is true. A segment of Snyder’s fandom did behave inappropriately. However, it’s unclear if Snyder supports that segment. Apparently, he used to deny its existence. arrow_down

[…] when we got around to the idea of his fanbase being labeled as “toxic,” or the release of his cut being a win for toxic fandom, Snyder finally opened up and told me:
I just think that’s sour grapes. There’s really no other way to say it. We know the people who were the architects of that narrative, and it’s pretty obvious what their agenda is. Those are people that I’ve been held back from confronting, by wiser people in the room. Because I’d love to get at some of these characters. Some direct conversation would be nice. Just to say, one, you don’t know shit about what you’re talking about. And we can break down everything they’ve ever [said]. I can make a list. There’s a few of these guys where I could just get a list of everything they’ve ever said, that they thought was right, and [I could tell them] every single thing they’ve said is wrong.
And so, in what world do you have any credibility anywhere, to any- one? I would love the opportunity to just say to the world, and to fandom in general, who these fakers are and what should be done to them, or with them. It’s just a bunch of BS. In regards to that toxic fandom, or it’s ‘a win for toxic fandom,’ again, in what world does this ‘toxic fandom’ raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for suicide prevention? How is that toxic fandom? They’ve probably achieved more than any other fan base, [and done more] good than any other group. So I don’t understand.

Variety

There’s also been a toxic side to the fandom, with reports that critics and some of your executives have received threats for not endorsing the Snyder Cut or for being perceived as standing in the way of its release. What’s your reaction to that behavior?
We’re not tolerating any of that. That behavior is reprehensible no matter what franchise you’re talking about or what business you’re talking about. It’s completely unacceptable. I’m very disappointed in the fans that have chosen to go to that negative place with regard to DC, with regard to some of our executives. It’s just disappointing because we want this to be a safe place to be. We want DC to be a fandom that feels safe and inclusive. We want people to be able to speak up for the things they love, but we don’t want it to be a culture of cancelling things that any small faction isn’t happy with. We are not about that. We are about positivity and celebration.

Justice League's Epilogue Is Its Messiest, Most Dangerous Indulgence

Justice League’s epilogue is, essentially, three post-credit sequences that, instead of being a couple of minutes, are stretched out to present an alternate world where it’s early 2017 and despite a few critical lumps, Zack Snyder is still the guiding architect of Warner Bros.’ DC Comics theatrical slate. The first and shortest of the threads Snyder tugs on is simple enough: a drowsy Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) is roused from bed by the arrival of a surprising guest, a green-skinned alien who calls himself the Martian Manhunter (Harry Lennix, who makes a baffling appearance halfway through Snyder’s movie before disappearing until this very moment). The Manhunter promises Bruce that there will be threats that require the Justice League, who mostly go their own ways by the film’s proper end, to come together once more—and that he’ll be willing to lend a hand.

What follows that moment is another we’d kind of already seen as the post-credits scene of the 2017 Justice League from Joss Whedon: Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, now free from Arkham Asylum, offering the vigilante assassin Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello) an alliance and a tempting tidbit of information in the form of Batman’s true identity. Another door thought closed now ponderously opened, but this is an altogether more peculiar addition on top of the Martian Manhunter scene; Affleck’s career as Batman since the 2017 film first released has paradoxically ended and continued anew because Batman truly is forever.

But it’s in its final moments that Justice League’s epilogue throws wide the gates into something that goes beyond an oddity. The largest sequence of the three—and one of the few entirely-new additions Snyder shot after being approached by Warner Bros. to actually finish his Justice League cut last year—is more than a wistful imagining of what could’ve been. It is Snyder revealing his future vision to a legion of fans who, having spent the past four years marshaling campaigns good and ill to see this movie through, now have the impetus to go “Well, it worked last time. Why not more?"

This extended sequence is set in the “Knightmare” alternate timeline briefly glimpsed in Batman v Superman, and what would’ve been, according to new interviews the director conducted last week, the major focal point of two more Justice League films. The scene quickly establishes that the Batman of this alternate timeline (an apocalyptic Earth, ravaged by Darkseid’s invasion) has formed a tag-team with some unlikely friends and unlikelier foes: Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Ezra Miller’s Flash, and Amber Heard’s Mera, the aforementioned Manganiello’s Deathstroke...and Jared Leto’s Joker. The team plans their attempts to get past Darkseid’s patrols undetected, the Joker ribs Batman the way the Joker so often does, but then it’s revealed that the team has been spotted by Darkseid’s agent: a mind-controlled Superman.

The scene is more than the wonder Snyder had when he first publicly revealed his plans to recruit Leto for new footage—the idea of getting to see Affleck’s Batman confront what was, in one timeline, meant to be “his” Joker. It’s more than calling back to the apocalyptic sequences of Batman v Superman to truly tie the bow on Snyder’s era of DC storytelling. It takes a movie that was, in a lot of ways, largely done—plenty of small doors left askance, sure, but it still with a sense of finality—and shunts it into a now awkward state of un-doneness. All this potential energy is suddenly blasted in your face after you’ve been lulled into four hours of blockbuster superheroics and makes for an awkward endcap—how did Batman unite these people, how did Superman fall, what was meant to happen to undo all this? But the scene is also, in some ways, a promise. There could always be more, if only there were someone to ask for it.

In the few days since Justice League’s release, Snyder has played a paradoxical game with the press—to Vanity Fair, he essentially shotgunned his entire hypothetical movie roadmap to spin out of this scene, to trades like Variety and Deadline, he’s seemingly tried to make it clear that he is very much done with the prospect of making more DC movies (for now, at least). But in sidestepping Justice League’s finality by throwing a realm of messy possibilities on the table, the director has, whether he intended to or not, left another rallying call to his most diehard fans, just as he did years ago with snapshots of the film reels his unfinished Justice League assembly cut.

The “Snyder Cut” is a project that cannot be discussed without the context of its road to a surprising existence. Like the final film itself, it’s a long journey that encompasses highs and lows—as Snyder has regularly liked to note in his the press tour running up to Justice League’s debut, many of his fans have rallied to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities dealing with suicide and mental health issues. But there’s also the other corner of Snyder’s fandom that has also spent the four years in the run-up to the movie harassing critics, harassing Warner Bros. executives, and seeking out naysayers on social media at any ill-mention of the director, benign or otherwise, in a virulent, toxic manner. They too have been emboldened to keep doing so as the movie came closer and closer to fruition.

It’s a segment of support that Snyder is only just now beginning to wrestle with, even as he’s previously denied it. Last Thursday, the director made a wave amongst reactionary groups while appearing on a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He pushed back on any association with the toxic right-wing YouTube channel Geeks + Gamers—myriad videos discussing the perceived “culture war” around large pop culture franchises such as DC, Star Wars, and Marvel, known as a hub for expressing bigoted, racist, and sexist “anti-woke” views—an act that was perceived by certain Snyder fans as a betrayal of their support.

To these two very different audiences then, Justice League’s epilogue offers a similar siren call. Instead of bringing a sense of closure, there’s this underlying concern that this potential energy raised by the road to the “Snyder Cut” has to go somewhere, now especially bolstered by something all fans can turn to and ask for more of. As the director and his fans alike find themselves reckoning with the toxic aspects of their fellow supporters in the “Snyder Cut” movement, the opulence of its final bow might become a dangerous tool indeed.

ZACK SNYDER CONFIRMS NO SEQUEL FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE

To his credit, Snyder has been pretty straightforward this week when asked about the situation, with the gist being that Zack Snyder’s Justice League is not to be considered a part of the DCEU “canon.” Snyder said that the original plan was for this Justice League to be followed by two more films, but now, “Warner Bros. hasn’t really expressed any interest in making more movies with me, and that’s 100% fine. I understand.”

Variety

The Snyder Cut came about because of a fan campaign online. Do you feel like you need to strike a balance between being responsive to fans and charting your own course as a company? How responsive do you believe DC should be?
We’re always going to listen to our fans, but we are in service of the broadest fanbase and we owe them an integrated, holistic strategy. […] On balance, you of course want to listen to your fans, but we do want to stay true to our vision and our mission for DC and build that out.

The campaign for #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has moved into a new phase. It’s now #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. What’s your reaction to this new campaign?
I appreciate that they love Zack’s work and we are very thankful for his many contributions to DC. We’re just so happy that he could bring his cut of the “Justice League” to life because that wasn’t in the plan until about a year ago. With that comes the completion of his trilogy. We’re very happy we’ve done this, but we’re very excited about the plans we have for all the multi-dimensional DC characters that are being developed right now.

Will there be more of these director’s cuts? Will we see David Ayer’s cut of “Suicide Squad”?
We won’t be developing David Ayer’s cut.

Ray Fisher has previously stated that because of a non-disclosure agreement he can’t share specifics about the abusive behavior he endured on the set of “Justice League.” Is there an NDA that would prevent him from publicly sharing all the details of what transpired on “Justice League”?
Not that I know of. No.
[Editor’s note: A spokesperson for Fisher responded to Variety‘s request for comment with the following statement, “Mr. Fisher is no longer under NDA and will comment further when appropriate to do so.”]

ZS wanted a GL for that scene, but WB said no. A GL or an MM, who has just arrived on Earth, would have made sense. But ZS’ stubbornness made him include that nonsense. There were three wars and Swanwick didn’t bother turn into MM to help. He has a stake in this world now, but not when the World Engine (WE) or the Mother Boxes (MB) were about to destroy it? Now that Earth has enough heroes to protect it, he wants to help? We already have a hero who’s so powerful that he can only appear in the film when it’s time to finish the fight and the film. His name is Superman. rolling_eyes

Forget the sequel and the quarrel with ZS. They should want to make money. Maximum profit. But this childish crap could only jeopardize that.

And maybe you should copyright what you write on SHM. thinking

Well, each post has a date and time. So it’s all good. wink

In Snyder’s defense, he had to say that WB is the one that hasn’t really expressed any interest in making more movies with him. After the babysitter article, fans thought that he might be the one who wouldn’t want to go through all that turmoil again. Perhaps he got wind of that.

That’s why I wrote “he made sure they know why they won’t get more”. But I should have added what you wrote too. Thanks.

Three casting announcement this week. Although, they’re not disturbing the ZSJL chatter.

Pierce Brosnan (hero Doctor Fate) – Black Adam
Ron Livingston (Flash’s dad) – Flash
Helen Mirren (villain Hespera) – Shazam: Fury of the Gods

Also announced this week is that Emerald Fennell will write the screenplay for Zatanna.

Two weeks ago, Maribel Verdu (Spaniard) was cast as Flash’s mom.

End February, it was announced that Angel Manuel Soto (Puerto Rican) will direct Blue Beetle (Mexican-American teenage superhero) and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Mexican) will write the screenplay.

Many people watched ZSJL or was going to watch it to make it a hit for HBOM to get WB to green-light MOS2, a BatFleck and Cyborg film.

Good reviews on RT, IMDb, Google and Metacritic can help too. rofl

Geralt of Snyder-Verse: Attention SnyderMania. Make accounts on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB right now and get ready to counter the negative review bombing of ZSJL that we know will happen for sure. PREPARE FOR WAR #SnyderCut

There are fans who take things literally or give it their own interpretation and are willing to do crazy things.

Zack Snyder is telling fans to watch the Snyder Cut as many times as possible. That means there is hope for sequels!

Ann Sarnoff tried to kill the hype for Justice League sequels.

Let’s show her how big of a mistake that was. #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #SnyderCut #JusticeIsGray

Facuna: I just need to know if there is still hope. Are we still fighting? @zacksnyder

Snyder: @facuna by watching it and getting others to watch it.

After you said that, the convo changed to F&WS and GvK. GvK has 79% on RT and it already grossed $121.9 mil internationally. China’s share is $69.2 mil.

It could have been a trick to get as many subscribers as possible. WB only needed GvK to undermine ZSJL. But it could backfire. I can see many people subscribe to get all three for $15 and unsubscribe because of the last minute change.

You mean pour. Word doesn’t mark it wrong because poor is an English word and it’s spelled right. I hate that.

I can always use help. HC can lift four of me and I don’t think I can lift one of his legs.
