During the planning, ZS forgot that one of BM’s “powers” is being a good detective. He finds out everything about criminals. So it does not make any sense that the greatest detective didn’t know who his most powerful enemy was. That’s why the Martha moment did not make any sense. ZS loves Easter eggs, but the most important one he left out. No sign of kryptonite in MOS.

An army of awful killer aliens attacked Earth and only SM fought to defend it. Maybe we’re supposed to believe that WW was still mourning ST. Um… since the end of WWI till 2013? Whoa! She couldn’t deal with that and didn’t care for humans anymore. So she didn’t care for the Amazonians either? She may be immortal, but the rest of the Amazonians are not. Many died when a few men with old fashion WWI weapons attacked the island. So if Earth goes, they will go too.

Maybe we’re supposed to believe that the Ocean blocked AM’s ears from hearing that aliens were threatening Earth and its Oceans. The Atlantiens were angry, because humans were polluting the Oceans, right? How sure were the Atlanteans that the Oceans wouldn’t be affected by the terraforming? How sure were they that they would survive in an Ocean fit for the aliens? Bottom line, no Earth, no Ocean.

Maybe we’re supposed to believe that BM was mentally in a dark place and either didn’t care about the alien invasion or was too busy killing and branding criminals to care about the alien invasion? If he didn’t care about the alien invasion, why was he so angry about the destruction? He didn’t try to stop them. Or… what’s the point of killing criminals to protect innocent people if aliens were about to destroy Earth and kill every living thing on it?

Snyder has finally ended all doubt, posting an image to his Vero account depicting Henry Cavill in a black Superman suit with the caption "my Superman." In the comments, Snyder even confirmed: "let's put it this way, in Zack Snyder's Justice League, he will have a black suit" (note the use of "will." In the home release extras, there was what appeared to be a black suit Easter egg, where Superman walks past a black suit on the scout ship, but Snyder also confirms in the comments that Superman would have gone over to select that suit upon his return.

The interesting detail here is that there are behind the scenes images of Snyder shooting scenes with Cavill wearing the blue suit, but Screen Rant has previously learned Snyder agreed to use a blue suit, shooting in a such a way as to allow it to easily be changed to black in post-production, a process many fan edits have shown is totally achievable.

Snyder also specifies in the comments that Superman would have worn the black suit throughout the third act battle, specifying that the blue suit was intended for a particular moment in his character arc. Behind the scenes footage shows Snyder recording the classic shirt rip scene currently used at the end of the movie, so it seems likely the black suit would have been used up to that point, with the classic colorful suit marking his true return as Superman.

I went really crazy when I saw the black suit. And I like to think that ZS posts SM pics because there’s no bad blood between him and HC. I was literally a few clicks away from opening a Twitter account so I can use the ZS cut #.

But when something is too beautiful to be true, it probably is. Well, unless that something is HC’s face, voice and arms of course. Those are heavenly. But I’m still waiting for a shirtless pic to confirm that the abs are still of steel. He fooled me once by hiding a cookie gut under his shirt. I refused to be fooled again.

Justice League: The Snyder Cut Was NOT Zack Snyder's Theatrical Cut

…there's not simply the Snyder Cut and the Whedon Cut. Justice League went through numerous sweeping changes at various stages of production, meaning certain concepts from the version of Snyder was working on that made it through to the theatrical cut weren't actually part of  Snyder's original plan for the Snyder Cut, and vice versa.

Zack Snyder and writer Chris Terrio had a Justice League script ready to go when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrived in theaters, but the reception was so polarizing they were convinced to do a rewrite, namely to exclude a "really scary" element, as Snyder described at his Director's Cut event back in March 2019

This means the original pure Snyder + Terrio script was rewritten into a lighter and less polarizing version, which is the version of the script that was supposed to be used during production. However, on-set rewrites with Geoff Johns turned into a virtual third version of the script, which is basically Snyder and new DC Films head Geoff Johns, with less input from Terrio since they were happening on the fly. Eventually, Geoff Johns assembled a writer's room, including Seth Graham Smith, Joss Whedon, and others, which further evolved that shooting script.

After Snyder left production following his family tragedy, Joss Whedon was given even more control as his rewrites ballooned to nearly 80 new pages for reshoots. The rule of thumb is a 2-hour movie is 120 pages. This lends a lot of credence to the seemingly low estimate from cinematographer Fabian Wagner that only 10% of Justice League is his original footage.

Because there were so many iterations of the Justice League story, it's fairly easy to conclude one thing: Zack Snyder's theatrical cut would have been heavily compromised from his original vision. He had already gone through one major rewrite before shooting started, but was also rewriting on-set, and if he had never left production, that trend would have continued through to November 2017.

Steppenwolf's design was changed early in production from the scarier version seen in Batman v Superman and trailers indicate Darkseid had already been replaced by Steppenwolf in the history lesson flashback before Whedon took over. The move from the movie being set-up for Justice League 2 to a more stand-alone story also meant writing a new ending without a cliffhanger. These are just a few high profile examples of changes Snyder agreed to.

The biggest recent example of changes Snyder agreed to would be the recently teased black suit Superman. Snyder says his cut of the movie will have Superman wearing the black suit, but we know from set photos and deleted scenes that the movie was shot with Cavill always wearing a blue suit. Snyder even shot the classic Christopher Reeve style shirt rip ending scene with the blue suit. Snyder agreed to film the movie in the blue suit hoping to convince WB to convert to the black suit during post-production…

While changing the suit to black was a possibility, looking at the sheer amount of pushback to Snyder's ideas in Justice League, it's hard to see him ultimately winning that battle, at least not as much as he wanted. Even if Superman wore the black suit, it likely wouldn't be the entirety of the movie as he originally planned.

Zack Snyder is teasing things that were already abandoned before he left Justice League's production. Going back to the multiple versions of the Justice League script that existed over the course of production, which one is he actually teasing?

Without seeing the scripts themselves, there's no way of getting an exact answer, but Superman's black suit is the clearest indicator yet of what Snyder is now pushing. Snyder teased a color-changed picture of Cavill in the superman suit, changing it from blue and red to black and silver because a black suit wasn't actually used on set, meaning the black suit would have been an idea from an earlier version of the script, at least as early as the first Snyder and Terrio rewrite script. Snyder said the black and silver suit is the suit Superman wears in his version of the movie, too, so it's not merely a "what would have been."

Add this to the fact that Ray Fisher said during a convention panel that Snyder shot "everything he wanted to shoot" and there was "enough for two movies." Snyder also recently confirmed his assembly cut was five hours long. With some much in flux during production, even though Snyder already had a script and storyboards for his own version, it's not inconceivable that Snyder got multiple versions of each scene, including versions that aligned more with his original vision for the movie. Snyder even said at his director's cut event that he shot "a lot of" the original script, with the "really scary thing" (Darkseid killing Lois) being the only noted change.

This is where things get interesting. Since the Snyder Cut still needs work to finish, including VFX and minor pick-up shoots (such as Martian Manhunter), if he's able to get funding to do that, it would make sense for him to take that opportunity to get things more in-line with his earlier scripts as well. This may not mean a full return to Darkseid killing Lois in the Batcave (not that it's out of the question), but if $30-40 million is needed for VFX work, what's a few million more to change Steppenwolf's design back to his scarier look or some of the other things that have long been ruled out of even being in Snyder's current 214-minute director's cut.

Whose money did ZS use to shoot two versions of the same film? You calculate the budget for one film. You have a certain amount of time to shoot one film. Did the actors know that they were working extra hard to shoot scenes for a version that WB vetoed?

This time, we are getting a new look of the villain Darkseid, which would have been an important factor in the Snyder movie, as well as in the planned sequel. Interestingly, Snyder also organizes an interesting battle that would apparently take place at the Snyder Court, which would have involved the villain of Wonder Woman.

In the League of Justice Snyder Cut, there would have been a great sequence known as the "history lesson." In the theatrical court, it was essentially reduced to a few lines of dialogue of the Wonder Woman of Gal Gadot. Snyder shared the image with the following title.

"Uxas clearing the defenders of the earth from the anti-life equation, you better look for David Thewlis."

David Thewlis played Ares in Wonder Woman. Certain DC fans had already rebuilt that a fight against Ares vs. Darkseid would have been part of this story lesson scene, but this confirms it.

Darkseid was teased in Batman v Superman: the dawn of justice during the nightmare sequence. Ray Porter was the actor scheduled to play the villain in Snyder Cut. Also in Vero, Zack Snyder confirmed, in answering a fan question, that Porter not only made the character's voice. "He also made motion capture," Snyder said. Also, when someone asked him if the actor had completed his work as Darkseid, Snyder simply answered "yes."

This is of particular importance as there has been much debate about how finished the Snyder Court is.

I doubt WB will ever release the ZS cut. They will look really bad if the cut turns out to be way better than the theatrical version. WB has recovered from the embarrassment that Justice League was. They won’t risk another embarrassment that can be even bigger.

ZS’s version sounds good. Even if the execution sucked, it would have been better than the hybrid crap that ended up in theaters.

Seriously, what the hell was wrong with WB? Were they angry because ZS shot his version behind their backs? Either that or ZS is lying, because this doesn’t make any sense. His version was ready, but WB chose to change 80% of it. They thought that a version of two directors with completely different styles would be better. They thought that a last minute version shot in two months would be better than the version shot over many months.

Justice League: Zack Snyder Is Holding A Contest For The Best Snyder Cut Fan Posters

In Snyder's latest post on Vero, the director has announced a competition for fans to create their own posters for his version of Justice League. The winner will be selected on the basis of, in Snyder's words, "the artist that best captures the spirit of the movie." Additionally, the prize will include a piece of Justice League memorabilia from Snyder himself. Furthermore, the official Twitter account for the competition lay out the rules of submission. Entries will be accepted until February 7th, with the winner to be announced on February 14th. The date of the winner's announcement is also a clear play on the 214 minute running time of Snyder's version of Justice League.

A similar competition was previously held in 2018 to find references in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, given just how much public interest in the Snyder Cut of Justice League has grown in the past few months, this latest contest is bound to draw significant attention and a large number of entries, and the latest example of a sort-of re-branding Snyder has given to the movie. Specifically, the director recently released a new T-shirt and hoodie through Ink to the People, which re-titles the movie "Zack Snyder's Justice League." The new attire released by Snyder is part of the Snyder Cut campaign's ongoing donations to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
