So Henry actually did want to attend drama school but his parents talked him out of it....interesting. Although that is no excuse as to him not taking acting classes through the years. I'm glad he didn't talk about the same things he normally does.

Thanks, Nerd for highlighting Culinary's link. I didn't see it.
I've heard different version of the whole leaving school bit.
The first story was that his dad was upset, when he received a letter from the school congratulating him over his son's obtaining an acting job but leaving school.
Now, I read that they seem to discount an education. Well, that's what I interpreted from the following line.
"... Now, you don't even need to go to drama school, because you have a movie, a career, and an agent. Why go back to school?"

On the moments that changed his life: “There are a few events in my life that I felt like, when I was experiencing them, my life was going to change for ever. The first was The Count of Monte Cristo, second was getting Superman, the third was getting Kal.”
Wow... That's interesting... He considers getting Kal as one of the 'major life-altering events' of life... Not getting engaged to Ellen? Not meeting Gina, TK or even Lucy?
@Poetist -- I owe you an apology, I am not a hundred per cent believer of your body language interpretations, but after what HC said in this interview, I guess you were right on target when you did a reading of that picture of him with his dog a while back --Kal is indeed the love of his life!
I can see where him getting his dog was a life-altering event. Before then, he was a man who came and went as he pleased without a care in the world. He took care of Henry, and nobody else. Making a decision to get an animal, to take care of another living creature other than yourself is a responsibility. He was obviously ready to take on that responsibility as he chose when to do it. Now he is responsible for the feeding, caring, and protecting a dog. A dog that we can safely say is his furkid, because he includes Kal in a lot of things.
If he were to mention past g/friends, I mean come on. He would have gotten ridiculed. He has moved past those parts of his life, and maybe they didn't change him until they were over. Sometimes, when relationships end and you can see how it was from a different perspective, you realize it was toxic, or it just burnt itself out. Not to mention, if I was Henry's current g/friend and he mentioned he past girlfriends, that could be interpreted as he has not moved on yet. Red flag.
I can also see how getting his first acting role in a major movie then getting Superman would be moments that he realized his life would forever be changed.
I find the last couple of paragraphs interesting in the direction of JL. HC pretty much confirmed that Zach's vision didn't work.
Conclusion over the interview: I think page 2 gives the best info. The other four pages are just fluff.
It was hard to read some of it.
You can shift on the plus sign to enlarge the print or if you have a touchscreen, you can expand the page.
Ya, I kinda got a little bored with it.
I agree about the boredom, but I will say the second page is the only one worth reading. I would add page one, but it was already read by most on this site. Since, it was a teaser to the full interview.

Since I am not a dog lover, I can’t relate. As a mother, then yes the moment you have kids your life is altered. I had a pet cat once, but I just can’t equate having kids to a having a pet. My apologies to dog lovers out there, but that’s just me.
If he were to mention past g/friends, I mean come on. He would have gotten ridiculed.
If it was Ellen, I wouldn’t have ridiculed him. Assuming his feelings for her were genuine — at one point in his life, he actually thought of her as someone he could commit himself to. Even if that relationship soured some time later and in hindsight he thinks that relationship was toxic, I still would think that at that point in time when he decided to propose and she said yes, I’d say that was kind of life altering
But that’s assuming the feelings and intent and even the relationship were real. With HC and his gfs, there seems to be some questions whether they are real... whereas with his dog, the relationship is very real..

I couldn’t read those screenshots. If I increase the screen, the words get a bit blurry.
But I do find it intriguing to know that his parents discouraged him to go to drama school. Why mention it now, but not in past interviews? In past interviews, HC has consistently expressed the view that he does not put much value in formal education in acting:
You can have a guy, who trained for 15 years in all the best schools, who won’t be as good as the guy who never trained
Plus he has never shown any inclination going to acting classes or having an acting coach. He is so opposite his predecessor, Christopher Reeves, who really took formal education seriously, and really loved the craft of acting (turning down roles if he thinks the script isn’t good, and taking smaller roles if he thinks the script is good — didn’t do wonders for his career).
If it was indeed his parents who didn’t think drama school is important, then I suppose it could be because they prefer that he pursue a more ‘practical course’ in university, if in case his acting career goes bust. All his other brothers seemed to pursue courses closer to their father’s own practical pathway (ie military, financial), so I could see his father preferring something along those lines if he went to university.

I love all of this talk about college when this dude didn't even finish high school.
I think this whole drama school bit is to cover up the fact that he didn't complete school. I mean seriously why else talk about college, when you haven't finished the pre-requisite for it.
Not many girls would not like a pair of snazzy high-heeled shoes despite what they say.
Did this actually spill out of his mouth?

Wait, I didn't see this line in the interview but HC made sure to post it on his IG.
Ugh, we sort of know he doesn't want to be bothered tasting white chocolate.

Haha....I saw that. I was surprised he posted that. But he took good pics, so maybe he likes white chocolate. ;-)

Apparently, we posted at the same time, and I forgot to add my link. HC liking white chocolate?
Not when there is dark chocolate nearby.

You know, I would love for an interviewer to show this picture to him during an interview and just be like "Care to explain this."
I think of Henry as more Vanilla.

Man, I would pay good money to SEE and HEAR that answer. I don't want to read it. I need to study the body language and get all the juice.
Yeah, he works really hard to become vanilla.
