I like the Monday recaps. Hope they keep doing them. I wouldn’t mind if GH started doing that.

What I'm about to comment is totally off-topic; I've not seen any episode(s) of this new series. But, I'll comment anyways...
Does anyone else here remember when this series' star Clifton Davis co-starred, way back in 1972, in a short-lived weekly variety show (was mainly singing and banter, as best I recall) with his romantic-partner-at-the-time Melba Moore? I do!
Seems like maybe was during the same year/summer that Manhattan Transfer had their weekly variety show, as I've throughout the years always recalled those two shows collectively for some reason. Maybe one followed or replaced the other? I was a kid back then, and don't think either show lasted longer than 2-4 months, but weekly watched, and enjoyed, both shows.
From Wikipedia:
brat, I bet you remember, and watched, too. If I'm not mistaken, both that and Manhattan Transfer's show was a summertime series.

I don't remember the show but I was pretty busy that summer.
Here are a couple of videos:

Yep, that's it! I think the show may have lasted only like 6-8 weeks, as though it was very popular, it got replaced I THINK that same season (I'm thinking summer) with another show.
UPDATE: I just now checked online, and it ran just five weeks, June 7 to July 5.

I think the second link is for the final episode & you can see the tension between them.

Their relationship must have become intolerable, for them to be willing to pull the plug on a successful show.

According to what I read online, he was abusing drugs & her.
From his IMDb bio:
"In the late 1970s, his career slowed and he dabbled in drugs before experiencing a spiritual rebirth. In 1981, he left Hollywood for approximately five years while he acquired a bachelor's degree in theology and a master's degree in divinity and became a licensed minister."

I didn’t realize Clifton Davis was almost 80. He doesn’t look it at all. I would have guessed 10yrs younger.
