Not a good start.
What I liked: The new workroom. The diversity of the contestants. The new female judge.
What is I didn't like:
Bland host. Bland mentor. The male judge, trying way too hard to be funny.
The fashion: A good, not great runway. I think I'd have gone with the other top look for the win.
Now to the worst of the worst: O M G they didn't send that blue bodysuit home. I get the feeling that it was because she is nice and nobody likes the WASP princess. Another decision like that and I may not continue.

We are always of two minds with men's wear challenges. This one was different since the gender of the model was the designer's choice and we had both men and women's looks.
Let's start at the bottom this time. We didn't have the problem with Nancy's design that the judge's did. The pants were similar, but she did take the judge's previous comments into account. We will admit, however, that it didn't really say tuxedo. We think it needed sleeves to pull off the challenge.
Delvin's was just unfortunate. It was a poor choice of fabric and color and didn't really show any mastery of tailoring.
Brittany's was disastrous. She deserved elimination. And she deserved Christian's save. Her past looks have shown talent and we think the initial error in choosing grays left her with nothing but disastrous choices.
Now for the top looks. I liked Sergio's, but my wife didn't as much. We actually don't blame him for the Celine Dion thing. First, that is a 21 year old piece. I expect fashion student's to know great designer's styles and movements, not necessarily specific looks. And many people don't watch the Oscars. Beyond that, the only similarity we see between Sergio's and the Celine Dion look is the backward concept. The looks are very distinct and, honestly, Sergio's was better. And it really annoys me to defend someone I really don't like. Sergio is still a pompous, conceited piece of work.
We had mixed feelings about Geoffrey's When it first came down the runway we thought the silhouette was a bit clumsy; and neither of us are found of the high-water ankle look. But overall, it was a good look and very well made.
We didn't think Marquisse's look resembled Christian's Billy Porter look. The lines of the jacket, the slacks and the long jacket skirts were quite different. We really like the horizontal pleating. This is not a easy technique to do well.
Victoria is driving us crazy. Again, this was a variation of her high/low standard. We will admit it departed the most from that standard of anything she has made. It was lovely, but...
And we were very annoyed at how she treated Alan. Yeah, the guy is a bit of a flake. But she is such a control freak she can't even make use of a helper for a challenge that is inherently time consuming. So she lets him make a garter belt; but only after she has cut it out. How she ever intends to work in the industry when she can't work with other people, we cannot understand.

Hmm... tie dye... ho hum. . .
Well, I like the winner, but I thought Victoria's look was the worse than Delvin's plain look. I knew she wasn't going anywhere. With that said, it is no big loss to lose Delvin.
Did anyone notice when Christian told him he will be a great tailor -- not designer?
I really liked Britney's dress, but it was too familiar to her other strappy winning look.
Sergio put in work with his dress, but I thought it wasn't that great.

Yes, ho hum indeed. That said, I think the top three were all pretty good. Tough call for me for the win, but I'd have gone with Sergio. He has been stepping it up the last few challenges. Points for skipping an obviously manufactured backstory.
Marqise made an ice skater outfit. I am a huge fan of Figure skating and I feel like I can say that with some authority. Rightly safe though. Brittany's had some nice elements but overall I'm not a fan of strappy, I guess. Always looks too busy to me.
I love that Christian made the tailor comments about Delvin because I said the same thing last week. 😘
I would have sent Victoria home. I suppose she was kept over Delvin because she has had some standout looks but come on, Leslie nailed it. She randomly painted some dye on a pair of jeans and made a bad ruffled cape with ugly tie dye.

We actually quite like this challenge. We don't know how old you lady's are (and I'm too much a gentleman to ask), but we, like Nancy, are in our sixties. We grew up with tie dye and its a real taste of our adolescence to see this.
We liked all three of the top looks. Geoffrey was, we thought, the clear winner. We would have liked Sergio's to be a bit darker, but overall it was lovely. Nancy's was deservedly in third place. We agree with the judges that it was much better without the headband. That was just a bit too sixties. Without it it looked much more modern.
As for the bottom looks. My wife actually liked Delvin's design and tie die. The tailoring was off and the buttons were pulling a bit. Victoria's was, in our opinion, much worse and she should have been eliminated. Why the judge's seem so intent on keeping her, we don't know.

I mean -- come on -- how many manufactured political stories can one have?
Yeah, I was a huge fan of skating, and that dress screamed ice skater outfit.
I agree. It's too try-hard and comes across looking like a bunch of bandaids, imo.
You sure did!
Wait, you forgot about the diaper comment that one of the judges said.

I don't know either. It' apparent, she's limited in her designs. What kind of show will she have at Fashion Week with all similar looks?

Omg, how did I forget the diaper

Re: Olympian Challenge
Glad they didn’t send anyone home. Too difficult to work with and please these clients. Glad they didn’t shred the designs in front of clients. I hate it when they did that.

Why are the judges not raking Victoria over the coals for sending the exact same dress down the runway every week? Of course, when Nancy does it one time -- it's a big deal.
Did anyone catch Victoria's face when she was smirking when someone -- I think Sergio -- was getting a negative review?

Agreed. I can't say that I I liked any of them except Nancy's. I didn't mind Sergio's, although I agree with the judges that it looked more day than evening. Brittany's was pretty generic but it looked good on her client.
I didn't like any of the red dresses. The short section of Victoria's was very short and loose, a stiff breeze would be showing off all the goods.
Marqise's was just plain boring.
Geoffrey's was the worst. To quote Nina, "short, tight and shiny is the surest way there is to look cheap." Yup.

I didn't mind the sameness of V's dress this week because it was what her client wanted. I did have problems with it, though.
I missed the smirk.

Well, didn't you catch Victoria's eye roll when she found out that no one was getting eliminated after the challenge?

She lured her client into saying yes to the design, and I will have to agree w/Christian, the dress was too short in the back.

Definitely too short.
