Discuss The Big Bang Theory

This is a behind-the-scenes question--not an in-show one.

I'm no expert on wedding dresses; but, I know what makes my eyes hurt.

Why did the show saddled Bialik with that God-awful-looking-should-have-Gone-With-The-Wind-sewn-together-exploded-mattress-innards of a dress?

Maybe they're punishing her for some infraction(s): being late to rehearsals – not being prepared - flubbing her lines too many times and causing too many “takes” - getting a tad too hippy. Must be somethingexclamation

If "Big Bird" ever got married, that's the dress I'd expect his bride to wear. laughing

All possible reasons for that "pile of swans". Or maybe Mayim or one one the writers is a Bjork fan and wanted to pay a tribute

https://imgur.com/gallery/S442L

seemed to fit her character to me

I liked the first one she tried on. The one she chose looks like a toilet paper cozy!

I wish this site would allow images to be shown!

Well, if that's a tribute, probably would be blinded in both eyes by the sight of what an insult would look like.

Not any more so than the other two.

Bad enough I get to see that hot mess of a dress again at the wedding; now your "toilet paper cozy" image is stuck in my brain. Probably will not be able to un-think it in time for the wedding; but, I guess it’s better than my previous comparison which was to a bevy of swans in a feeding frenzy.

Well there were other 'cozies' that looked closer but since google changed the way we can view & copy images & TMDb will not allow images in the post that was the closest I could find. Sorry?

Well thank you for inviting me the world of toilet paper cozys. I just perused Etsy and Pinterest and saw more varieties than I need to know about.

Well don't forget the 'teapot cozy':

Also the 'toaster cozy':

I've been giving my own question some thinking .

And...

Much like that dress, I'm thinking this whole situation stinks.

And...

What I think it stinks of is PR People manipulation. A simple, elegant dress would have caused the usual discussion flare up; which soon would have died out. But, this monstrosity masquerading as a dress has kept the discussion embers well stroked.

I think they came up with this hideous wedding dress Thing purely for the purposes of cultivating controversy and hype. No way would a decent looking dress get the kind of “press” that Thing is getting! People are thumbsup_tone1 and thumbsdown_tone1 that Thing all over the place. I even read a couple of comments from designers about how they would improve on what's already there to make it more appealing. They probably don't even watch the show; and just "signed on" to critique the dress.

God! These show people sure know how to work us!

The ugly wedding/bridesmaid dress is a bit of a cliche. Just a few days before the episode I came across a "Two Broke Girls" rerun where the broke girls had to wear ugly bridesmaid dresses.

Does it really seem out of character for Amy to pick a wedding dress that others might regard as hideous? Especially considering how she dresses usually? It also doesn't seem that far out that Sheldon would find it beautiful too.

Personally, I like the first dress she tried on best. However, considering what we've seen of the character and her tastes, I wouldn't expect her or Sheldon not to be most drawn to that pile of doilies.

Once I saw it, I just knew that it would be her choice, and that Sheldon would be blown away on first sight of it.
