This is a behind-the-scenes question--not an in-show one.
I'm no expert on wedding dresses; but, I know what makes my hurt.
Why did the show saddled Bialik with that God-awful-looking-should-have-Gone-With-The-Wind-sewn-together-exploded-mattress-innards of a dress?
Maybe they're punishing her for some infraction(s): being late to rehearsals โ not being prepared - flubbing her lines too many times and causing too many โtakesโ - getting a tad too hippy. Must be something
If "Big Bird" ever got married, that's the dress I'd expect his bride to wear.

Because, as Sheldon's mother noted, they're both weirdoes.

But she loved the first one she tried on, Penny even told her don't choose the first one you try on.

No doubt Penny expected she would find and pick something else even better, not something horrible.

The question remains why the show would go with such a dumb joke. Ha Ha Amy is so needy she takes fashion advice from no fashion sense Sheldon not her fashion aware Besties. Lame.

Gotta be "realistic" though. If wearing a Gorn costume is what got Sheldon ready to boink, that's what she would do.
