2) On another topic I don't know what the ancient Chinese called a sandwich but I think of a sandwich as using sliced bread to contain the ingredients, and don't picture ancient chinese with sliced bread. I like many different sandwiches but my absolute favorite is a BLT with EXTRA BACON ( I would eat one everyday if I could afford the bacon.!

BACON, toasted sourdough bread (sometimes a dark rye), mayo (sometimes blue cheese dressing), nice thick slices of tomato, thinly sliced red onion, & a couple leaves of romaine .

Here is an article about the Chinese sandwich called Roujiamo:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roujiamo

It's very difficult - if not impossible - to beat a good Monte Cristo sandwich. The problem is, few places make them at all, and even fewer make GOOD ones.

1) My favorites are ,bacon egg and cheese on cinnamon raisin bagel, pastrami on Rye, Shawarma, Cuban sandwich.........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

And a sandwich I invented with my roomie called the Muenster Mash. Let me know if you want the recipe.

2) Trying to define a sandwich opens up a whole can of worms that usually ends in the "Is a hot dog a sandwich " debate and eventually fist-a-cuffs. I say a sandwich is like the government's definition of porno, ya know it when ya see it.

Back in the day it would have been a Reuben (corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing, grilled between slices of rye bread) all the way! But now that I am a vegetarian—I Reuben no more.

Anyway…

My new favorite is my own creation: pepper jack cheese, roasted sweet peppers, and sliced tomatoes, grilled between slices of multigrain bread. I started out drinking freshly brewed herbal tea with it; but, soon found out that a double scotch neat gives it a certain je ne sais quoi that was missing with the tea. grin

Yes I am intrigued by the Muenster Mash. I assume Muenster cheese and since you made it with you roomie then some other ingredients that were leftover in the kitchen. It also sound messy but just give me an idea. All these sandwiches are making me hungry yum

The "National Hot Dog and Sausage Council" has ruled that it is not.

I mention this only because--couldn't help but envision one guy (Sheldon-like) forming the "organization", declaring himself president, and then issuing a ruling. smile

A Bacon Cheeseburger with Cheddar Cheese, and topped with a fried egg. (Not some half ass one like at Red Robin - but a true gourmet burger )

On my new diet, I can have about one of these per year. So I relish it.

Runner up - a Wendy's Double Cheese - with mayo, pickle, onions, and lettuce. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Again - about 1 per year now.

Had never heard the name until The Avengers (2012) movie where they saved New York, and one of them (can't remember which one) gets a craving. At the time, thought it was a made-up something for the movie. Looked it up anyway and found that I've seen it many times on a spit--just never knew the name; and never thought to ask. flushed

As I recall, it was Stark - Iron Man - and he didn't know what it was/hadn't heard of it before either. But he was intrigued by the name and wanted to find out. After the closing credits, they did.

OK Znex this is the recipe we came up with on day when there was nothing to eat.

1: White bread 2: 2-5 slices Muenster cheese 3: Lettuce &Tomatoes( She hates Tomatoes so she excludes it) 4: Caramelized onions 5: Pesto (a touch of mother Italia) 6: Ham/turkey/ pastrami whichever meat you want

7: Scrambled eggs with salt and pepper.

Yes you read that right. Sounds weird but I promise you the flavor clash is delicious.

I came up with the name Muenster Mash . She just calls it "that sandwich we made that day we didn't feel like cooking".😋

Didn't know that there is such a thing as a Baked Bean Sandwich (“Canned baked beans on white or brown bread, sometimes with butter”). Have to say (even as a vegetarian), nauseated_face

You are welcome.

As for the 'baked bean' sandwich. I have been eating them for years, I use a sourdough bread with butter (only on one side or it will fall apart), spoon on the hot beans (drain the beans a bit before you heat them up so they aren't so runny) & sprinkle with sharp cheddar. Filling & very yummy.

I only buy B & M Baked Beans, so I can't speak to how others might taste.

The Brits eat beans on toast.

Pastrami on Rye, can't go wrong. I also like BLT's for breakfast.

Did you ever see this? There was a version posted earlier, I think by CBS, with a few bits missing, but this one seems complete.
