Was doing a highest-salary-search for TV sitcom stars and ran across this little gem

"Kunal Nayyar rose to prominence in his role as Rajesh Koothrappali in the CBS science sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”

Since the success of the show can be largely attributed to Nayyar’s performance,

he has been consistently listed as one of the highest paid TV actors for many years already.

laughing Nothing like fan-love; though delusional it may be!

It might be fun to have a "contest" to think of titles for the show in India. Much like how original Star Trek was jokingly known as "Sulu: Master Navigator" in Japan.

How about, "The Big Rajesh Theory?"

Or "Rajesh: Indispensable Punching Bag."

And "The Green Hornet" was called "The Kato Show" in Hong Kong.

Your link is broken.

Thanks.

I like how his book is a 'hit'. Though it's listed at #250,947 on Amazon.

Raj, imo, is the character that could disappear tomorrow and the show wouldn't lose a beat. At this point, he's just a step above Stuart, and is lucky to have castmates that decided to negotiate as a group. Otherwise, his salary would be much less, or worse, he'd be gone.

Raj has an unusual role/purpose, sort of comic relief in a comedy show. Not exactly critically important.

Any more ideas for what the show could be called in India?

"The Big Bollywood Theory?"

Or to copy that Andy Richter show (which was pretty good), "Rajesh Koothrappali Controls The Universe."

For some reason, the opening/title sequence reminds me of this:

Thanks, Raj is my favorite character. Although there are some questionable episodes in the last couple of years.

I rank the characters this way (best to worst):

Raj

Penny

Leonard

Howard

Well, when it comes to contributing to the popularity of the show, the crown the article places on Nayyar’s head, I'd give to Parsons, hands down.

But, when it comes to ranking everyone from-favorite-to-least—Sheldon comes in third; behind Leonard and Howard.

Formerly, I do not watch the first run episodes since the first 2 seasons (or so) because of Sheldon, the character makes me so angry & I can't see watching a show that makes me angry (bad for the blood pressure).

I watch them on a local station that runs 2 episodes a night at 7:00 & 7:30. When Sheldon is the focus I put it on mute.

You advertise it as a hit so people will be more inclined to buy. That's why so many new books have" best seller " on the front whether they're best sellers or not.

I got about half way through Kunal's book and put it down. It hit me that if not for getting the role on TBBT the book could have been about any actor anywhere studying theatre, getting roles in summer stock, working their way up etc. It was just about the typical struggles of a young unexceptional actor, who in Kunal's case struck it big, but not much more than that.

Titles: The Koothrapoli Chronicles, Rajesh and Friends, The Raj half hour of power show

If you bought the book, then he already "won" in that sense, regardless, and you were one more point towards being able to call it "a hit" or "bestseller."

Good ones. The last one reminds me of what Priya said about Raj and some friends dressing up as "The New Delhi Power Rangers." Maybe there's some way of making it about that? "A New Delhi Power Ranger And His Glass Of Milk Sidekicks?" "New Delhi Power Rangers Undercover In Pasadena?" "The Little New Delhi Power Ranger From Pasadena" (a lesser-known Beach Boys tune)?

1) I borrowed the book from my library. I did not even know about it when I saw it on the shelf. Now I don't remember much about it.

2) Was that the B-side of "Darling", the tune that got stuck in Sheldon's head ?
But how is Raj going to convince the rest of them to dress in Power Rangers outfits ? They would have to lose another bowling bet. The New Pasadena Power Rangers would be the follow up to The New Delhi Power Rangers.

I'm surprised that a library would have Kunal's book. But I guess stranger things have happened. Not MANY stranger things, though. grinning

I went a little off the deep end with those latest Raj show titles. My original idea was to come up with names that might actually be put on the show when run in India. It's just difficult not to get silly when thinking about that. Your ideas were names that could actually be used in that situation without being totally ridiculous.

Maybe in India they could show it as just "Friends" and hope that increases the rating. I doubt there would be any danger of a lawsuit.

Or since Doogie Howser, MD is supposed to be so popular in India, maybe Rajesh Koothrappali , Ph.D.

The comic book series about his life could be "Rajesh Koothrappali, Poor Little Rich Boy."
