Discuss The Big Bang Theory

As I am still getting my bearings on this new site and have a few questions, I wondered if anyone could help me with the following. Thanks in advance!

1.Is there a way to tell who has hit "like" on threads? I have hovered over the likes but nothing came up.

2.Is there a private messaging function on this site? I have not seen one, but it's always good to double-check.

3.Are any of you former IMDb TBBT board members who have changed your usernames? I'd love to know who you were if you feel comfortable sharing. (Please? blush )

4.Does anyone know if there is a way to know how traffic on IMDb has changed since the boards were taken down and if there was truly a significant impact?

One of the problems I have with TMDB is that I don't know if somebody replied to me. (Other than using my cosmic senses.)

It was often important on imdb to use quoting, especially if your post was not immediately following what you were replying to. That's perhaps even more important here.

I'm not so put off by not having the "threaded" structure though. One thing that got complained about often on imdb was the inability to be notified if someone posted to a thread you were interested in/had posted on yourself, but they didn't reply to YOU.

An imaginary number[note 1] is a complex number that can be written as a real number multiplied by the imaginary unit i,[note 2] which is defined by its property i2 = −1.[1] The square of an imaginary number bi is −b2. For example, 5i is an imaginary number, and its square is −25. Zero is considered to be both real and imaginary.

3) I know I've seen a video clip of a horse eating scorpions off of some guys face. Scorpions and crayfish are vaguely related. Not real close, like that distant cousin who shows up at family get together who drinks too much and tell off color jokes.

4) And who's to say we're not?

0)If you go into your profile and change your notification settings, you can choose to be notified if someone responds to a thread you're watching. If you don't do that then you'll just need to keep coming back and checking threads where we're chatting because most likely I'm going to be replying. It's your own fault. If you were less fun you'd not hear from me so often.

Except that's not me. Just some helpful internet girl who was willing to pose and express my thought. I look like the scantily-clad fairy girl in my avatar. By the way, you still have no avatar.

1)It appears we're done with #1. I typed it anyway so it wouldn't feel sad. Numbers, even non-imaginary ones, have feelings.

2)I didn't know John Denver was a glyphic. That's explains a lot.

3)Squish the Crayfish is turning into a real tragic figure here. First a big-footed kangaroo stepped on him, and now he has learned that his distant drunkard cousin Stanley Scorpion was devoured by a horse. If we're not careful, Tim, someone's gonna accuse US of being glyphics.

It seems you do have to post to a thread, though, in order to be notified. I haven't seen any option to be notified of new posts to a thread even if you haven't posted to it yourself.

I think to get emails about a thread you just have to "watch" that thread. I think the watch option is over on the left side within threads. I didn't choose the email option. I just chose the "Automatically watch threads I create or reply to" option so the bell just turns red for me when there is something new in any thread where I posted.

It's like they say: "You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone" It's a minor annoyance, but there it is.

My avatar is the part you don't see. I assumed yours was a photo of yourself.

Squish is a method actor. He is immersing himself in tragedy. He wants to play Hamlet. He also thinks the play is about Winnie-the-Poo. (Hamlet is Piglets father ) But now he's worried that Kanga and Roo might stomp on him. You know how actors are.

@Tim-Buktu said: I came here almost immediately after IMDB shut down, but you weren't here. So I went off to read about kangaroos. It's a sordid business.

Tim, I have many things to tell you. I shall numeracize them for ease of reading.

1.In reference to your earlier reference of the afore-referenced Wilford Brimley: When my first-born son was a baby, we must have watched too much "The Price is Right", during which there were many Wilford Brimley diabeetus commercials. Some of his earliest words were "Ba-Barka" (Bob Barker) and "Grimley" (Brimley).

2.Do you think it's possible that my questions in the OP were written in a language that only you and I can understand? Ain't nobody answerin'! Maybe it's like a secret code that only we can decipher. Like pyroglyphics.

3.So you've been reading about kangaroos for the past 3 months? With all that newly-gained knowledge it sounds like it's storytime! And I want the kangaroo in your story to be named Marvin and for it to befriend a crayfish. I'm waiting.

I don't know the answers to your "meaty" questions; but...

You are not alone. It's just that same-as-you many of us are new here.

You probably are limiting yourself by asking your questions on a "show-specific" Board. The same questions also asked on the General Chat Board may get you more bang-for-your-buck.

The one thing from your list I can address is name change. Yes I did. Decided not to put it out there because I'd rather make new friends than drag around old enemies.

If Squish is into pig stories, he really should try out for The Three Little Pigs instead. There are no kangaroo feet to be found in that one.

Basic things I learned from this thread:

1.Is there a way to tell who has hit "like" on threads?
Nope, apparently not. If you hover over the "like" area nothing comes up. And if a kangaroo foot ever hovers over a crayfish, he'd better run.

2.Is there a private messaging function on this site?
Again nope, apparently not. But legendary mountain glyphics are likely to be hooked on drugs- a fact they'd probably like to keep private.

3.Are any of you former IMDb TBBT board members who have changed your usernames?
Apparently so, but that shall remain a mystery. Much like Tim's imaginary numbers and lack of avatar.

4.Does anyone know if there is a way to know how traffic on IMDb has changed since the boards were taken down and if there was truly a significant impact? Apparently the impact of the disappearing boards was not significant to IMDb's traffic, but that in no way diminishes the community we formed.

Thanks for playing with me Tim. purple_heart See ya (I hope!) in the next thread!

You have way too much time on your hands Lemons. I leave you (for now) with this: https://youtu.be/DBBWVUzG0Ec
