1.In reference to your earlier reference of the afore-referenced Wilford Brimley: When my first-born son was a baby, we must have watched too much "The Price is Right", during which there were many Wilford Brimley diabeetus commercials. Some of his earliest words were "Ba-Barka" (Bob Barker) and "Grimley" (Brimley).

2.Do you think it's possible that my questions in the OP were written in a language that only you and I can understand? Ain't nobody answerin'! Maybe it's like a secret code that only we can decipher. Like pyroglyphics.

3.So you've been reading about kangaroos for the past 3 months? With all that newly-gained knowledge it sounds like it's storytime! And I want the kangaroo in your story to be named Marvin and for it to befriend a crayfish. I'm waiting.

OK, you don't have to if you don't want to, lol, but I have, and I even got my sister to do so. It's Wikipedia or other sites for me when it comes to my entertainment info. I've only been on IMDB twice since the shutdown: once to delete my account, and once when I clicked the link by mistake while looking up some info.

The pain still lingers, but it's getting easier, especially now that we have our Lemons back!

When it comes to numeralizing, I do my best work with imaginary numbers. 1.I remember Mr. Brimley selling some kind of cereal made out of rocks and sticks and dirt and other such things. By the way, speaking of the Price is Right, I know where the Warsaw Tavern is. ( I'll let you work out the connection.)

I may or may not have a story about kangaroos, but my observation is this: Australians seem to think that Americans think that Australians ride kangaroos. I thought that was ridiculous. But then I thought Americans ride bulls (Not all Americans, _some _Americans) Which led me to think: Have any Australians ever tried riding kangaroos? I remember that it was a thing to have boxing matches with kangaroos. So why not. Especially college students who've been into the Fosters.

I would like to hear more about your imaginary numbers someday. That can be storytime on National Imaginary Things Day, which of course is just one day after National Non-Imaginary Things Day. I'm sure you've already got it marked on your calendar.

1. I believe it was Quaker Oats that Brimley peddled. You must have purchased the Forest and Nature Variety Pack. And thanks to Google I have learned that Warsaw Tavern is a bar that was featured on the Drew Carey (current host of TPIR) Show. Perhaps someday we can meet there for a bowl of rocks.

2.Yes, thankfully my thread was not written in unreadable code. But's that not really nice of you to accuse the noble glyphics of being high. They may live in the mountains, but that is no proof of rampant drug use.

3.After thinking about it some more, I'm not sure that kangaroos should befriend crawdads. With their huge feet, the lead character might have to be named "Squish the Crayfish". And of course Australians ride kangaroos! How else do they get to the eucalyptus grove to feed their koalas??

It's nice to meet you LadyGigi! I suspect that there are still plenty of people going to IMDb occasionally to look up a variety of things as I admittedly have a few times.

I found this page after a brief Google search. It reports traffic on the IMDb website. I'm not sure it's accurate, though. It makes it appear that IMDb traffic was extremely high in March and April. Anyone have any thoughts on this? IMDb traffic info

Perhaps this answers my question #4, although I'm skeptical.

Well to start with, both imdb and alexa (that "rating" site) are owned by amazon. So I would want to see a good deal more detail before making any conclusions as to whether imdb lost a lot of traffic by dropping the message boards, or what that "means."

Yes, the Amazon factor is part of my skepticism. The results make it appear that traffic increased (at least temporarily) after the shutdown. Very odd.

And the numbers shown by alexa don't show who are "members" (registered and logged in), or who makes contributions to the site versus just looking around. The numbers from before the board shutdown would not have revealed - publicly - who was using them. Since the boards are gone, the only reason to be a "member" any more is to contribute data, which I expect a lot fewer people are doing because there's so little "return" any more. I also completely discount the age, gender, and level of education figures because there's really no good way for them to know.

4: Believe it or not there were A LOT of people who used imbd for the reason it was intended for, to look up information on movies, and those people didn't stop because of deactivated message boards. I doubt traffic decreased by a significant amount, and if it did I believe we would have heard about it by now.
