That was the best episode in a long time!!! They really pulled out all the shots!!! I was holding my breath thinking that Daryl was going to get shot when he was on top of whatever he was standing on at the end, while looking around!!!

No no no. If you can't stand a show, you need to go on forums and berate those who DO watch the show, thereby demonstrating your superior taste and discernment. :)

I stand corrected.

I can see what @movie_nazi is saying. TWD has become so tedious with the plot just inching along. That wouldn't be so bad, or as noticeable, if it were watched somewhat consecutively. But to drag it out over a full season causes issues.
I plan to watch the first 2-3 episodes of next season and if it seems the writers are pulling the same slow pace, then I'll probably just wait until the season is done and binge watch it.

Isn't binge watching...watching? What's the point? Either way, one ends up doing what they say they're not going to do...which is watch the damn show!
Sorry, I just don't get that.

I have discovered some great shows from BBC1 like "The Missing". Two seasons of engaging well written well acted TV. Though even in an 8 ep format, I have read complaints that the series dragged the plot out a bit; but it was so well done I personally did not mind. Cannot recommend one season over another as both were excellent. Warning, the format uses time jumps a lot. First to the incident with the missing child, then to present day or years later when new clues emerge. Sometimes it tells you in a subtitle when you are, sometimes no.

Binge watching allows you the freedom to watch when you feel like it rather than being "trapped by television" into a predetermined time slot. I like it in many respects as opposed to waiting a week, or waiting through a "mid season break". The Netflix model where they release all episodes of a series in a single day is great as well. I can DVR them or watch them online or whatever.

Do you consider the slow pace to have been a new feature for this season specifically?

Rick was not restrained and so I think he would have pushed Carl out of the way and taken Lucille to the shoulder or back. Painful but not fatal. That may have given enough time for what happened when the tiger appeared... enough of an unexpected move to change the dynamic. Since there was no communication lines he could not have known the Kingdom was coming.

Well said @Oldnewbie . I never said I would not watch. I'm not completely boycotting here. I'm invested in these characters and haven't given up hope on the show/story. I still want to see what happens. I just think they drag out the story too much. Many episodes could have been combined together with very similar results story-wise which could have freed up time to move the plot along. This bothers me less when I don't have to wait a whole week. It's similar to watching a slow part of a good movie.
I've criticized the writer's choices in the past but really nothing too serious. The closest I can remember feeling about the show as I do now is when they first left the prison. The group was segmented and separated. The plot didn't move along too well during that time, however, there was good and meaningful character development. I think great stories have plot progression and character development; a story can do well while focusing on just one of these for a little while but can't ignore the other for long.
It seems to me that this show does best when the primary group is together. There are so many characters that when they try to develop them all, while they are separate from each other, it just takes much more time. This season seems almost like a prologue to the next season, instead of a season itself. That's not good.

My point is that binge watching is still watching. If I am so disappointed or dissatisfied with something...like a TV show, it doesn't make sense to me to continue to watch it.
Someone said...maybe it was movie_nazi that they're not going to continue to torture themselves, or something like that. Then in the very next sentence Netflix is mentioned as a means to watch the episodes. WTF!
Either you're going to continue on or not. There is and should not be any middle in this discussion.

Or perhaps some viewers just have attention deficit syndrome. Too many moving parts make it hard for them to follow.
Just a thought.

Agreed...a prologue to the "All out war." But then, if that doesn't last long, it will be a weak pay-off.

You are missing the point. If I couldn't stand the show I wouldn't have trudged through 7 seasons. What I can't stand is how they have ruined a show I used to love and I refuse reward AMC by watching regardless of the quality. Its not like this is the first season of shit quality and I am throwing my hands up in the air. It has been on a steadily decline since season 4 and now it just has gotten so bad it barely resembles the show it once was. So no, I won't be back next year. I already took it off my DVR schedule and I am fishing for a show to take its place next season. Have fun!

Now that was unnecessary. Sounds like a typical liberal political debate trick; turn the issue into something personal against the opponent.
Not caring for the way a show or story is paced has zero to do with ADD (as it is correctly named, Attention Deficit Disorder, not syndrome). No the problem with TWD last season was no budget to truly show how vicious or active the Saviors were. Otherwise we'd have seen their other compounds, more instances of violence, a better idea of why Negan wields such power over so many (with the Governor we had a clearer picture of why everyone followed him but Negan? No. One guy with a baseball bat does not a ruler make). As I stated elsewhere, AMC has cut the shows budget so much that having more action, as well as the cast all together more often (they get paid per episode), has resulted in crappy episodes and struggling writing. As far as recalling stuff, can you recall the name of the young black man with the braids who went with Tara and got separated from her before she found Oceanside? Unless you take notes I would imagine no. Yet I still wonder what happened to him. Was he eaten? Turned? Hiding out somewhere?? He just vanished. (And yeah I recall Tara coming across a body on her way back that COULD have been him but it was never certain.)
