After he tried to betray Maggie and Sasha to the Saviors, why the hell didn't they get rid of Gregory then? Instead they let him go on pretending to be the leader while Maggie, along with Jesus, have for all practical purposes wrested control away from him. Did anyone notice how people were looking at him while their Dr. Carson was being taken away? The kind of look you'd get from a bunch of gang members in a dark alley late at night. He definitely caught the vibe because he was glancing around nervously. All this has done is increase his consumption of booze and fuel his anger at Maggie. This is all your fault!

The preview of next week shows him getting ready to stab her in the back, literally. They can't let Gregory live. If he escapes the Hilltop, he's going straight to Simon and spilling the beans about the alliance and Rick's plans. Hopefully Maggie will solve the problem personally when he makes his cowardly move on her.

I think they are going to follow the source material as it applies to the relationship between Gregory and Maggie. There will be a major power struggle between them both which ends up in tragedy. That's all I will say because I don't wanna spoil anything.

You kind of have to think things through before acting. Based on what you just proposed, you'd get that entire colony wiped. Let's just put it to you this way. Negan likes Gregory. Gregory provides for Negan. Kill Gregory, Negan kills you. Savy?

I don't think Negan has ever met Gregory. It's Simon who "likes" him; and I doubt he really likes him, he just realizes the guy is a suckup and therefore easily managed.

You don't get rid of Gregory by killing him yourself. A walker got him. Or he washed down too many pills with too much booze, died in his sleep and turned, then you had to take him down. They only know what you tell them. Besides the Saviors are well aware he's been hitting the sauce heavily of late. If the new guy Simon has to deal with seems perfectly accommodating I doubt he'd care all that much.

You just answered your own question. Gregory is just a puppet for Simon/Negan. Also, let's also avoid semantics. Negan is synonymous to anyone who's a Savior. Can we just agree to that and not get all bent out of shape over wording? Thanks.

That said, Simon will just replace Greg with another Greg. Nothing will change. Right?

Wow. Your arrogance is really shinning brightly today.

No. You give him Jesus, a guy they've seen around the Hilltop but don't really know, and he puts on his very best lapdog act while Maggie installs herself in Gregory's office (except when the Saviors come around). Gregory knows about Rick's plan and could sell him out at any time. He's too much of a risk. They really should eliminate him.

Oh, you're forgetting that Maggie and Darryl are hiding out at the Hilltop. They can't be seen. And are you forgetting that Gregory hasn't sold out Darryl yet, even though he's a fugitive from justice? Give the man props where he deserves it.

EDIT: I noticed you realized that Maggie can't be seen. But here's the deal, if Jesus does what Gregory is doing, then nothing really changes. Right?

He doesn't know Daryl is a refugee from Negan's Sanctuary. He's just another of Rick's people there stirring up trouble. And I did say Maggie would have to hide somewhere (maybe in Sasha's little passageway) whenever the Saviors dropped by for a visit. Then Jesus could take over and do his pretend leader thing until they're gone. Keep in mind all this is just until they launch their offensive and wipe out the Saviors.

Then Jesus could take over and do his pretend leader thing until they're gone. Keep in mind all this is just until they launch their offensive and wipe out the Saviors. And Jesus pretending to be like Gregory is very different. Jesus won't spill any details of the plot against Negan. Gregory could do that at any moment.

You're simplifying a complex military strategy into some easy 5 Step program. You don't just get to "pretend" to be a lap dog. Because "pretending" means you have to give up your doctor, give up your medical supplies, give up your best fighters when they are drafted, sell out friends, etc. Basically, you have to do a lot of bad things, while pretending to be the good guy. It would be nice if life could be shortened into a simple step by step process, wouldn't it be?

I keep saying it, that's not the problem. The problem is, you have no idea what (or how much) Gregory is going to blab to Simon. He could talk about his - recently arrived of course - unwanted guests. Daryl's name would be music to Simon's ears! He could also inform him that Rick paid the Hilltop a visit and was trying to recruit allies against Negan. He could screw them over royally. This is why they need to get rid of him.

So your solution is, instead of giving the man props for keeping his trap shut, you should kill him because he knows too much? Eh........were you a Mossad agent at one point in life?

He hasn't held back out of loyalty to anyone else. He's worried that Simon may suspect he's known for a while. But give him some time to concoct a good story, and his overconfidence combined with alcohol may get him babbling and spilling all kinds of information to the Saviors. He very nearly said too much in the last episode about someone else taking over and getting "crazy ideas". A bit more and he would've had no choice but to go all-in. There's a world of difference, having a friend act as intermediary with the Saviors instead of an enemy. Is that really so hard to see?

I need a brick wall to bang my head on. I think that would be more enjoyable than having this redundant conversation. I've said my piece. I'm done.

So you'd put everyone in the Hilltop and Alexandria in danger just to avoid killing a treacherous prick like Gregory? Great plan. Remind me never to vote for you as leader! If Negan learns that Rick is trying to start a revolution he won't just kill one or two people, both communities will be burned to the ground.
