_While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we've always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged." a Warner Bros representative said in a statement to CNN. (CNN, like Warner Bros., are both owned by Warner Media.)
Cavill's manager, Dany Garcia, gave a slightly more hopeful message via Twitter: "Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe.
I think HC has been extremely dedicated to this role and worked his butt off to get it. WB does nor have any SM2 movies coming up in the foreseeable future. They don't want to throw shade at HC so saying they have dropped him (but not having any plans for an MOS2 in the foreseeable future) prevents HC from being looked at as a difficult actor, plus it obligates them to nothing. HC got his 3 movies which is supposed to be in his contract. They have plans for Batgirl, Supergirl and Aquaman 2 so if I was BA or HC I would be reading the writing on the wall.
Dany said "Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe." The phrase "while they evolve the DC universe" to me reads like they have a lot of other movies to make and they may or may not get around an to an MOS2. My bets are on no the won't for at least the next few years.
BTW if you want to come to talk to us maybe you should keep your BS wannabe insults to yourself. No one said a rude word to you but here you are. insulting Poetist again, Grow up or go the fuck away. Is that clear enough for you?

Exactly. Plus, WB film scheduled is booked for four years. If they were to do a Supes' film, it would take six years to get into theaters. HC would be in his 40s, but most importantly, will HC still be on their minds five years from now. I doubt it, just look at what they did to Brandon Routh. They kept him thinking he was going to be in the next Supes movie, and then it was announced that HC was taking over the role.

Oh, was that an insult? If it was, it went over my head, but thanks for having my back if it was.
In this interview w/Jason, he originally thought HC was out as Supes, but he had a phone conversation w/HC. According to that call, HC gave Jason the impression he was still on as Supes.
This interview highlights that it is still WB's decision to green light or dead the issue.
Wow! I thought he would make even just a smalll cameo in this movie, yet he won’t even make that. I can see now what Grace meant about him being ‘difficult’. I don’t even understand why he wouldn’t appear or make high demands when MOS, BvS and JL didn’t do very well. Even the Marvel actors (excluding RDJ) don’t make as much demands and they are more than willing to make cameos. Given how much some fans wants him to continue on being the Supes, I don’t know if he deserves the devotion if he couldn’t even make a cameo, particularly for this movie where the screenwriter wanted Superman to be in it. (I wonder if Ben Affleck would’ve worn the Bat suit if the scriptwriter wrote Batman instead to make an appearance.)

He could have done that scene in less than a day. I wonder how HC feels when he saw the box office for the film. Soon enough the screenwriter will be upgraded to a director, who will be another person who will not hire him. Add that to the current director and studio that won't hire him and add that on top of the Stratton folks and friends.
I don’t even understand why he wouldn’t appear or make high demands when MOS, BvS and JL didn’t do very well.
That's what I don't understand. It's not as if he had any bargaining chips.

Given how much some fans wants him to continue on being the Supes, I don’t know if he deserves the the devotion if he couldn’t even make a cameo, particularly for this movie where the screenwriter wanted Superman to be in it.
The fans aren't signing his check, and he doesn't have a large enough fan base to put butts in seats to make the powers that be sign a check for him. He is purely at the mercy of the studio bigwigs.
Scheduling conflicts??? Uh-huh... There had been enough rumours going on in the internet about problems between him and WB to make this a lousy excuse.
Wow! So Shazam is getting a sequel but MOS is not... I know BvS and MOS didn’t do so well, but so did Suicide Squad and that one is getting a rebooted sequel with Margot Robbie. I thought MoS (as boring as it had been) did ok enough to make a sequel. Couldn’t they just do a rebooted MOS with him? (If not, then the rumours of him having a fallout with WB seems more true...)

It's called damage control, but it's so ridiculous. People in the industry talk, so it doesn't matter how Dany and crew try to change the narrative. People in the know are aware of what really happened. Dany thought since she has a stake in Shazam (as ex. prod and a DJ's manager) that she could get something popping with HC.
Plus, there was a lot of demands from her clients: HC and DJ
HC wanted more Supe movies and DJ wanted to star as Black Adam in his own solo pic. Both of Dany's clients did not want to star in Shazam.
Since DJ wielded more power, he was allowed to have his own movie, and the outrageous demands from HC was frowned upon, because he wasn't in the position to ask for it, even if Dany was trying to put the fear of God into WB that if they don't perhaps they'll lose DJ.
In the end, WB knew Dany was about her coins. She and DJ were producers of Shazam, and they knew she wasn't going to take away DJ because they didn't cut a deal w/HC. Dany and DJ got what they wanted -- another movie to produce (solo Black Adam) -- AND -- got paid for Shazam.
I think she only pitched HC's demands to pacify him. Sure, I think she thought there was a shot -- a long shot -- but a shot none the less, that he might get something out of the deal. Who knew he would get stripped of the little scraps that he did have.
So I finally saw Shazam, and all I could think about is how super cool it would have been if HC made an appearance. Then I saw Dany Garcia’s name showing up in the credits, and all I could think about is how in the world could she not make him appear in this movie? Could this be a reason why at some point their social media a few months ago they looked like he was not happy with her and vice versa?
I always thought HC was asking for more money from WB because he thought Dany could do so, but WB said no, so he went away and sulked. But now it seems like Dany (as exec producer) asked him to show up and he said give me more money, and she said no, and so off he went and sulked. Either way, for someone who said HC was going to be big within the next two years, it seems sad she can’t make him do a cameo for this movie which could have increased his profile as MOS. For someone who seems so enthusiastic to be the MOS and always talks about respecting ‘the Super suit’, I can’t figure out how he could let someone else wear the suit for this movie.

Moving on. . .
Here is Vanity Fair saying pretty much the current DCEU is done, despite what Jason rambles, but I must say it's cute how he speaks up for HC.
