TG delayed by a year.

Paramount have announced the release date for Top Gun: Maverick has been pushed back almost a year and the film will now be released on June 26, 2020 instead of the previously announced July 12, 2019.

In the long-awaited sequel, Tom will reprise his role as Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell alongside original co-star Val Kilmer as Commander Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky.

New cast members include Miles Teller as trainee pilot Bradley Bradshaw, the son of the late Nick 'Goose' Bradshaw from the original film, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris and Mad Men's Jon Hamm.

Speaking to Access Hollywood about the project in 2017, Tom said: “Aviators are back, the need for speed. We’re going to have big, fast machines."

He added: “It’s going to be a competition film, like the first one…but a progression for Maverick."

...while attending Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in New Jersey this past weekend, Fisher commented on what the biggest challenge would be for the solo venture.

“See, I don’t know. I mean I can’t comment on that specifically because they don’t tell me anything until the very last minute. I will say there’s a ton of people making those kinds of decisions behind the scenes and it would be a very costly movie to make because it’s so CGI heavy with Cyborg. You’re going to be looking at $200 million just to make it. It’s one of those things you really have to take into consideration. It’s a numbers game for some people.”

TG 2 is far away. Let's talk about this year's films. I don’t expect much from The Predator this weekend. The Nun is breaking records, but I wasn’t really impressed. And I can’t understand why The Meg is such a huge success.

At the top, we can't ignore the signals we're seeing when it comes to WB's The Meg. The film is debuting in a massive 4,118 locations, which is the second widest August release of all-time behind Suicide Squad (4,255), and industry expectations are right around $20-24 million and we're seeing signs pointing toward the higher end of that range.

A look at IMDb page view data shows plenty of interest over the two weeks leading up to release, a lot of which began even a little earlier with The Meg having taken advantage of Discovery Channel's "Shark Week", including an exclusive first look during the "Megalodon: Fact vs. Fiction" program on July 27. While we might normally chalk up the film's gains at that time solely to the marketing around "Shark Week", interest has continued to gain since then to the point a performance over $25 million doesn't seem at all unreasonable. IMDb page view data shows the film dramatically outperforming the likes of 47 Meters Down ($11.2m opening) and The Shallows ($16.8m opening), both of which debuted in less than 3,000 locations. All that being said, we're anticipating a performance right around $23-24 million.

The news resulted in Fox cutting a scene from the film with actor Steven Wilder Striegel, who pleaded guilty in 2010 for trying to entice a 14-year-old girl into a sexual relationship on the Internet. (Striegel is a longtime friend of "The Predator" director Shane Black)

The 43-year-old actor was seen with an actual clown on Sunday (September 16) in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Joaquin was seen laughing in a maniacal manner and honking the clown’s nose for the outdoors scene.

An image from the New York City subway where scenes for The Joker movie were shot just hit online, packing in quite a few Easter eggs that Batman fans are sure to recognize.

There are quite a few references to Batman lore and creators in this subway map, with the most obvious being Old Gotham, Gotham Village, Gotham Square, the Bowery, and Amusement Mile.

It appears that Amusement Mile will play a big role in the film moving forward, as we've already seen shots of the future super villain Arthur Fleck interacting with clowns who are employed in the area.

There is also a neighborhood called Snyder, which is an obvious reference to... (drumroll please) Scott Snyder, the longtime writer of many popular Batman storylines in the pages of DC Comics. Well, it could be a reference to Zack Snyder, but that seems much less likely given the fact that the filmmaker only made a fight movie between Batman and Superman that was poorly received and he became a pariah among Warner Bros. executives

The map contains references to the Waynes in Wayne Avenue, director Christopher Nolan in Nolan Lane, and many more. But fans should point out that Kane County exists at the top of the map. Without Batman co-creator Bob Kane (and his unheralded partner Bill Finger), Batman would not exist.

During a recent friendly Q&A session on Twitter, one fan asked about the Edge of Tomorrow sequel, and McQuarrie responded that "We're working on it. No idea how or when it will happen." Though this might seem like a bummer of an update, it should make fans rest a big easier to know that the sequel has not been forgotten about. It could be due to a number of scheduling factors, as both Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt have been tied to major projects since the release of the first film.
