According to Forbes, he didn't get $1 billion. The initial payout was $700 million. He must split it in 3, because he has 2 partners. After uncle Sam, he'll keep $140 million.

That was long but nice to read.

For starters, the movie will focus on the death of Superman and his heroic return… on the 25th anniversary of DC’s “The Death of Superman” comic. The 1992 comic book got a tribute of its own in 2001 when the much-beloved animated TV series Justice League debuted on, you guessed it, November 17th. Which means the League’s first movie team-up has a direct connection to their animated predecessors.

That‘s why they didn‘t push JL’s release date?

Beyond even those other examples, the relative underperformance of Justice League, especially in North America (its $428m overseas cume was second only to Dawn of Justice in the DC Films franchise), cemented that audiences don’t care if a movie is part of an intertwined world or part of an interconnected narrative.

So if the somewhat shocking performance of the Justice League movie is what finally affirms to the industry that moviegoers are either not enticed or actively repelled by the cinematic universe as a concept unto itself, then that will be its positive legacy. On its own, it’s an enjoyable piece of big-budget hokum, clearly put together with scotch tape and thumbtacks but featuring a core cast of superheroes who make for good company. But that the ultimate copy of The Avengers went down in flames at least partially because it was too much of a copy of The Avengers could be the bomb that saved the industry in the long run.

I must have missed the part that Zack was fired. Sad! I do wish to see his cut. When I saw the clip with the MOS music, I kinda wished they kept the movie consistent with his style. BUT really enjoyed the theatrical version.

Deciding not to include Superman in the majority of the promo materials may have played on the film’s premise of a world without the Man of Steel, but DC Films’ inability to use one of the movie’s biggest crowd-drawers while advertising it was perhaps not the most brilliant idea. After all, it was already a given that at some point, he would be resurrected and join the League considering that the final shot in Batman V Superman hinted as much.
