Discuss War for the Planet of the Apes

self-important snoozefest and should not be called War for the Planet of the Apes since there is absolutely no war. Don't let the marketing fool you, there's no epic battles, just two hours of brooding and some action in the last ten minutes. With that said, if you want to watch a grim social issue drama than you should absolutely go see this movie

Huh, that's the one thing I figured they would have, an epic battle. Alright then.

It was epic. I am sick and tired of films being rushed at 100 miles per hour just to satiate teenagers.

I'm sure you're high on all the biblical references, interspecies sentimentalism, the avalanche as a metaphor for Mother nature punishing humanity etc etc etc . Good for you. It's still boring af.

I really liked the film, the story was very emotional and it was very well written. I just don't get why the mixed opinions, I thought it was an incredible film and I'd say it's my favourite film of the year, sure the film is long but it definitely wasn't boring. I agree with domremy that films shouldn't be rushed and I'm glad they chose to take their time to tell this wonderful story. grinning

Good to hear you enjoyed it. I'm going to see it soon, but I'm going to watch Rise and Dawn before I watch War.

Cool, that's a good idea to watch those before seeing War so you get a better sense about the story. relaxed

It's a good film but quite different than the first two. I think this film had some editing issues and was about 20 minutes too long. Rise and Dawn were both pretty fast paced with some nice action sequences sprinkled through. For the most part this film does play it safe as a drama. There is about 5 minutes of action in the beginning and about 15 minutes towards the end. The problem is the 2 hour and 15 minute running time. The middle is very draggy. Still overall I liked this a lot better than Spiderman Homecoming which everybody keeps raving about.

Were you expecting a planet of the Apes film to be a flat out action film? Should have gone to see Transformers instead.

Personally I loved this new Apes film. It was an intelligent film and a perfect allegory for war and it's victims.

Exactly, it's a very well thought out movie and I think a lot of people are missing the point about the film in general.

Oh you mean Bad Ape, he was actually funny, definitely my favourite character in the whole film. grinning

It's at least the best blockbuster of the year so far, if not the best movie period.

It's neither the best blockbuster or movie of the year end of. Grim, overlong dreary movies are just that.

THIS!!! I saw people complaining about the lack of action before watching it and this was one time where it didn't bother me. I was too invested into drama aspect. Caesar's character growth was amazing to watch. The apes were amazing to watch. I didn't really care too much about the humans.
