Why no DNA test?

Am i’m missing something? Lulu and Cody are knocking themselves out doing all of this peripheral research online when all they have to do is get a hair from Dante and Gio‘s combs, or steal their toothbrushes, or wipe their drinking glasses. Take it to the lab get the DNA test done and there’s the result. I don’t get this convoluted plot.
