Probably because Jeff Kober is a better actor than Maurice Benard.

Kober finds ways to keep the audience engaged with what his character does.

I don’t like Cyrus, but I enjoy the character. Kober is excellent.

Sonny is a buffoon. There is no enjoyment to be had. And now Drew is even worse.

The writers write Cyrus as the villain he is. Sonny is a bigger villain and worse person, but written as if a hero, much less antihero. Cyrus knows he's evil. Sonny thinks he's a good guy.

I’ve read that Kober is leaving. He’s a good actor, but the writers have written Cyrus into a corner where he needs to be killed off. Theres nowhere for this character to go in terms of growth or change or complexity, he’s completely sociopathic. I’m tired of Cyrus, mostly because I’m sick of the whole fake religiosity crap with him quoting the Bible all the time. It’s worse than the scenes of Sonny praying in the GH chapel. They both need to STFU about being religious.

I love Cyrus. I think Jeff Kober does a great job with the role. It feels like they are writing him into a corner where there is really no place for Cyrus to go other than prison or the grave. But it felt like that before, so we never know where things might go. They could easily rewrite it where he’s not the killer.

They really can’t re-write that he’s not the killer. We saw him kill Sam, and we also saw the WSB video of him with Dex after Dex was stabbed.

The only way around this would be to give Cyrus Dissociative Personality Disorder, where one part of his personality is a sociopathic killer and the other part a religious person. But I don’t think these “split personality “ SL’s are too popular with viewers.
