Two weeks of commemorations, multiple funerals , drives around the country in a limo, and guards standing around the casket is excessive in my view. I’m tired of seeing this every time I turn on the news. No one person’s life should be so valued over another’s. I got slammed on GH Snark for saying this.

He was a lousy Prez who supported dictators and genocide.

All this Pomp-and-Circumstance treatment comes with the office, not with the man. It is how we honor what it means to have served in the highest office of our land.

That being said; YES!, I think he made some grave errs. But, I also think he was a better man than he was president.


ON ANOTHER NOTE: Thank goodness these sendoffs are not entirely based on service/dedication/performance/etc. If they were, a slew of folks would’ve been “unceremoniously” buried in an ant hill somewhere—by the side of some road—LONG before we got to Carter.

Carter was president long before I paid attention to politics. But the opinions are fascinating.
