I just finished binge watching all six episodes of the first season. Started slow. Yes, the stage had to be set for coming events. Exciting climax. I found it interesting how the writers filled in the gaps in historical information with detailed personal dramas. If you know anything at all about Herman/Arminius/Ari the Cheruscan from history, this is NOT the end. SPOILER ALERT, those personal dramas play out in stunning fashion! Hopefully in season two!

That's not exactly how I envisioned Armin. More like Liam Hemsworth with a beard. This actor looked too much like a Roman soldier. But ... yeah Armin was that. I watched it with English sub-titles, but I could still pick up the dialog when the actors switched from German to Latin and back. That was a nice touch.
