So Obi-Wan still looks pretty young compared to Alec Guiness' Obi-Wan. I don't understand why they didn't olden McGregor up to come closer to match what his age should look like by Episode IV. Is he using the Force version of Just for Men?
FYI I'm kinda stoked for this release. Has a lot of potential.

Or they could have recast. I like Ewan McGregor but his Obi Wan was balls.

Really? What didn't you like about it? I thought it was alright. If you take into consideration the terrible dialogue he had to work with.

How long after Episode III does this take place?

That terrible dialogue killed it. It may not have been his fault as pretty much everyone was awful in the prequels. If you watch Shattered Glass you'll be shocked to see that even Hayden Christensen can act. But I don't get the impression McGregor tried much despite the dialogue. The way he spoke was very corny and wooden. But whether he was at fault or not his version hasn't left a very good impression. If they can use age as an excuse to recast and escape that impression then by all means they should take it.

I have seen Shattered Glass so I know Christensen can act. Lucas is just absolutely terrible when it comes to writing dialogue. He's a great world builder and story teller but he can't write dialogue worth a damn. This is notable how much the dialogue improved from episode IV to episode V and VI. I don't think I need to tell you that McGregor can act. And the amount of practice and fencing training they did and rehearsed over that final duel shows that he is not the type to not even try. The writing sucked, I don't blame the actor. I do say he was miscast simply because of his age. Alec Guinness is really old in episode IV. If anything, Kenobi should have been Qui-Gonn's age in episode I. That would have put him much closer to the age Guiness looked like by episode IV.

I got it! In the final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, he gets in a massive duel with a sith which cumulates to a battle of good force vs bad force projecting massive energies from their palms and Obi-Wan stresses himself so much that he rapidly ages but in turn defeats his opponent all at the cost of his youthly vigor. Huh? Eh? Eh? Pretty good, huh?
No, you're right, it sounds corny as fuck but after the last trilogy I wouldn't put nothing past Disney Star Wars. At the very least it explain how he got so goddamn old in 10 years.

Alec Guiness was 62 when he made SW. And Luke and Leia were supposed to be 18-20 years old. MacGregor is 51, and his character should be 62 by the time of Episode 4. I know it's bananas but the ages line up perfect. As far as him not knowing about Darth Vader: "Ben, how could you not know about Vader? Have you been living in a cave for 10 years?" "Well, funny you should say that!"

LMAO! Nice pun!
And it is crazy that Guiness looks so much older than McGregor but at the very least they should have gave McGregor some white streaks in his hair to show that he was indeed aging. I mean, not even his beard has white in it. Most people have white hair in their beards in their late 30s.
