Extra Details: I have many questions about how Dimension 20 should be listed on TMDB. I am very open to discussion.
Dropout has a lot of different ways it lists and combines the different episodes of Dimension 20.
Before I ask my questions I thought I would clarify the different ways Dimension 20 is listed on Dropout. Since it is complicated and confusing, and needs to be understood for my questions.
The main entire show page can be found here: https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20. This is the page that this TMDB page is based around and includes most of the show.
There are three separate pages to view most D20 seasons (examples are for Season 13: Starstruck Odyssey):
There are some seasons that have sequel seasons and are listed as such on their individual pages.
There are also multiple Dimension 20 spinoff shows which are also listed on TMDB.
There are several special episodes of and related to Dimension 20. Only two have their own pages on Dropout, and so do TMDB Movie listings.
Major seasons also often have behind-the-scenes and bonus content released with them.
With that out of the way, here are my questions.
All seasons of Dimension 20 have separate listings on Dropout. Should each season of Dimension 20 have a separate listing on TMDB? I’m assuming they shouldn’t, but I wanted to check, especially with some individual seasons having multiple sequel seasons.
I was recently made aware of the following in the content bible:
“Special episodes are any episodes that did not originally air as part of a regular, usually numbered season. Sometimes a network will call an episode a "special" episode—as an example, "in this special holiday-themed episode"—but still assign it a season and episode number; in those cases, it should not be added to the special season here but, instead, to the season assigned to it by the network.”
Currently, all of the specials and bonus content for Dimension 20 are in the specials on TMDB. However, on Dropout, most of these specials have episode numbers in their related seasons. However, these episodes don't have episode numbers in the separate season listings. Does this mean that these specials should be moved out of the specials and into their seasons? If so, should they be added in the air order, or should they stay in the episode order listed on Dropout?
If this is true, then there are several issues this brings with certain episodes and how they are listed on Dropout.
The episodes: “Fireside Chat with Brennan & Friends (Part 1)”, “Fireside Chat with Brennan & Friends (Part 2)” are extra talkback episodes of Fantasy High Sophomore Year. These episodes are ONLY listed on the D20 Fantasy High Season 2 Page (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20-fantasy-high/season:2), NOT the Dimension 20 core page for Sophomore Year (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20/season:7). Should these episodes be included as specials of the core show since they are not on the core page? Or should they be included in the Sophomore Year season listing?
The episode: “Making Chungledown Bim (with Lou Wilson)” is the pilot for the show “Dimension 20’s Foundry” which never ended up continuing beyond this episode. This episode is related to characters from Fantasy High Sophomore Year. This episode is ALSO listed only on the D20 Fantasy High Season 2 Page (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20-fantasy-high/season:2), NOT the Dimension 20 core page for Sophomore Year (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20/season:7). Since it was the pilot for a cancelled show, should Dimension 20’s Foundry be listed on TMDB? Should this episode still be included as a special of the core show since it is not on the core page? Or should it be included in the Sophomore Year season listing? Or none, and just a separate listing?
Regarding the above episodes (as well as others, but this is a good example), many listings are done strangely on Dropout. As said above, they are listed on the individual season page (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20-fantasy-high/season:2); however, the first fireside chat, as well as the two specials for the season, are listed just as "Episode" without a number, the second fireside chat has no tag and then the “Making Chungledown Bim (with Lou Wilson)” is listed as Episode 25, implying the others are Episodes 21-24. How would someone handle listing this inconsistency in numbering?
The episodes: “Starstruck Origins with Elaine Lee (Part 1)”, “Starstruck Origins with Elaine Lee (Part 2)”, “Starstruck Post Season Talkback With Elaine Lee” and “A Starstruck Odyssey: Behind the Scenes” are all ONLY listed on the D20 Starstruck Odyssey Page (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20-a-starstruck-odyssey), NOT the Dimension 20 core page for the season (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20/season:13). Should these episodes be included as specials of the core show since they are not on the core page? Or should they be included in the Starstruck Odyssey season listing?
In season 4, Tiny Heist, the trailer is listed as Episode 7. This is the only season to have its trailer listed as an episode. I’m assuming that it should not be listed on TMDB. Should the trailer be listed on TMDB if it is a numbered episode?
In season 21, Fantasy High Junior Year, there are two recaps (“Dimension 20: Fantasy High Junior Year Mid Season Recap” and “Dimension 20: Fantasy High Seasons 1 & 2 Full Recap”) and a music video (“Sarah Barrios - Teenage Rebellion (Official Music Video)”) all listed as numbered episodes. Should recaps or music videos be listed on TMDB if they are numbered episodes?
All four episodes of the show Fantasy High: Extra Credit are listed on the Fantasy High separate listing (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20-fantasy-high), but NOT the core show listing. From this, people have included them as specials of the core show. However, they are not technically episodes of Dimension 20, instead of Fantasy High: Extra Credit. Should these episodes of Fantasy High Extra Credit be included on the core Dimension 20 page or only in their separate listing on TMDB?
A similar problem occurs with two episodes of Adventuring Academy. The episodes “Reunion with the Cast of Escape From the Bloodkeep” and “Reunion with the Cast of Escape From the Bloodkeep Pt. 2” are both listed on the Escape From the Bloodkeep separate listing (https://www.dropout.tv/dimension-20-escape-from-the-bloodkeep), but NOT the core show listing. From this, people have included them as specials of the core show. However, they are not technically episodes of Dimension 20, instead of Adventuring Academy. Should these episodes of Adventuring Academy be included on the core Dimension 20 page or only in their separate listing on TMDB?
“Dimension 20: Misfits and Magic Holiday Special” is a special episode that was released separately and has its own listing on Dropout. It was added to the core series under the Misfits and Magic season. It was also added to the Misfits and Magic separate page, as a special (not a numbered episode). Should this special be listed as an episode of Dimension 20? Should it be an episode of Misfits and Magic? Or should it a movie listing / can it also have a movie listing?
“The Legendary Rick Perry and the Art of Dimension 20” is a documentary about the Creative Producer and Artist for Dimension 20, Rick Perry. It is not anywhere in the core listing for Dimension 20. It is a standalone documentary. This is not a Dimension 20 episode, so it should be removed from the specials of Dimension 20 on TMDB, and leave the movie listing.
I believe these are all of the questions I have. Huge thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this and help out. Honestly, I think the way the specials are laid out now largely makes sense, but in wanting to keep with the contribution rules, I wanted to clarify these questions.
