Item: The Great British Bake Off
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Design_issue
Extra Details: Seasons are incorrectly listed, season 1 = season 8 and so forth.
This is due to the program moving from one broadcaster to another but when they moved they kept their season numbers. Yet here it is listed as a new set of seasons.
Maybe merging would create a fix?

We are going as per the original numbering.
As visible here, the first 3 seasons have been originally broadcasted as season 1, 2 and 3, before being renaming to 8, 9 and 10 later.
This is due to the fact that the broadcaster of the new show has decided to renumber its seasons to capitalize on the previous one, but that doesn't change its original broadcast.
They are 2 separate show, so there are nothing to merge.

I’m sorry superboy but I have to disagree.
They renamed the episodes to enable synchronisation and flow the show is still the same the broadcaster is the only thing to change.
By sticking with the original numbering you only create duplicates.
Sometimes change is for the better. Why not just simplify?

They renamed them to capitalise on the previous ones.
Following the original broadcasting is the main rule here.

Stick to your rules then. Doesn’t help anyone.
Have a nice day.

I strongly disagree with this structure. Having it as separate shows only makes it confusing for users, especially in apps like Plex and Trakt. No viewer would consider viewing Bake Off as multiple shows. That’s probably why Channel 4 changed the seasons (and why TMDB should follow suit). I don’t believe adhering to these rules at the expense of users is a wise decision. It only makes TMDB appear highly confusing and inconsistent.
