OP was incorrect.
The season is 52 episodes. Last episode was a Christmas ep called Verandah Santa.
I have fixed this.
Air dates are all wrong though.

The Christmas special is already in the Specials.
It goes without saying that adding bad air dates is a no-no. If you can't find the original release dates, please leave the field blank.

It's not a special, it's merely a Christmas themed episode and shouldn't sit alone in "Specials" as it is the final 52nd episode.

ABC doesn't list episode numbers.
However, the official distribution partner in NZ lists it as 52 as well was Wikipedia, the fan pages and other sites like tvcatchup australia.

I believe they were referring specially to the newly added episodes (27 to 51). They had the air dates predicted by the system instead of the real ones.

Disney+ has the episode listed as Season 1 Episode 52. Can't post a link as it is behind the disney+ login. All other online sources show the episode as season 1 Episode 52:

The "52nd" episode was added as a special, I had the same problem with the second season with the Easter episode. Should it be a special or the season finale?

According to Disney+, and other sources such as IMDb and TVDB, it should be the season 1 finale, which would make it season 1, episode 52. Thanks.

Bluey website only lists 51 episodes for season 1, is that because it's out of date or the preferable way to categorize the Christmas "episode"?

I would argue that that website is very out of date. It does not list season 2 or season 3 episodes, nor any of the newest specials.
Additionally, all the Bluey specials are 1 to 2 minutes, and episodes are 7 minutes. Verandah Santa is 7 minutes, which is standard episode length. It maskes the most sense to match the other sources that list it as Season 1 Episode 52. Thank you.

Christmas Swim and Easter, the Christmas/Easter episodes for Season 2 is not a standalone episode and listed by all sources as episode 52 for season 2. No reason to categorise only the season 1 Xmas ep as a special when it's the same length and all other seasonal episodes are included in their respective season lists.
