You mean the painting by Judy? He disappears after the detective reminded him that he's suspended (don't remember well). Looks like he has his own troubles with the law with his partner dying, I feel like he shot him accidentally.
Yeah, its definitely a weak part of the story. They made him do something dumb just to keep the plot going. But by the next episode it didn't really matter, his secret discovery was overcome by the actions of other characters. If they had made the rest of the season depend on him keeping his mouth shut, then that would have been really lazy writing.
I agree with you. While I'm not sure he would have told her directly, I would think he would have at least warned her in some way. Who knows though, because that "psychiatric" drop seemed pretty hard. My guess is the detective already knew the answers to the questions she was asking him, so....
