The show is renewed for season two, but it is no longer a DC Universe production.
CW has taken over.
Will the quality, character development and story lines suffer?
More drama, emotional entanglements and current issues inclusion?
Only time will tell.

I’m glad it’s been renewed for season 2. I am a fan of the CW but ironically not their other superhero shows. I’ve given almost all of them a try and have yet to really get into any of them. Stargirl is the 1st CW superhero show I’ve really enjoyed. The production values and story telling are so much better. Hopefully they are able to keep the quality up in season 2.

Stargirl's first season was produced by DC Universe and broadcast on the streaming services of DC Universe (Monday) and CW (Tuesday). That's why it is different compared to the CW shows.
The second season is now going to be produced by CW and exclusively (?) streamed on CW. That means the quality and story lines are determined by CW guidelines and the show will probably look similar to the other superhero shows that are now on CW.
We'll just have to wait and see what the CW executives decide for the second season, e.g. budget, film location, cast changes, number of episodes, and so on.
