I missed a few episodes but I don't remember them ever saying Bev went to Arizona. Was she staying with someone (maybe that boyfriend she had), or perhaps she was on an extended vacation. I guess they had to explain her absence some sort of way, so they said she had been in Arizona.

The entire Conner family is quite cruel to her except for Mark.
