Why are they trying to ship Jane a the Robot so hard? She has to be about his daughter's age.

It's not romantic, at least I don't think so. He sees her as a surrogate daughter.

Jane's older then Cliff... In the comics they have chemistry, but in the show he sees her as someone who he has to protect (she reminds him of his daughter).
