"The Theft of the Royal Ruby (1991)" is an episode that I always love to watch during these festive holidays.
It is adapted from the Agatha Christie's story "The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding (1960)".
I would have preferred the original title; it sounds much more appetizing,
The plot is not as convoluted as the episode "Hercules Poirot's Christmas (1994)", and best of all there is pudding.
Poirot is eagerly looking forward to spending Christmas alone.
"A week of the complete peace and repose, the demi kilo of your chocolates most excellent, is for Poirot the Christmas parfait."
However, a ruby is stolen and he reluctantly goes to Kings Lacey to retrieve it.
Will he succeed?
It's a pity the mistletoe scene was left out of the television adaptation.

Back when they originally aired, I watched nearly all the episodes, but regrettably no longer remember anything about hardly any of them. From the early years, really all I'm still able to remember is, in generalities, the main ongoing characters, and their relationships with one another, of Poirot, Lemon, and Japp. The episode you mentioned sounds wonderful for during the holiday season!

I like to rewatch some episodes now and then.

Sometimes it's because of a holday, like for example St. Patrick's Day, Halloween and Christmas.
Other times it's to stimulate the little grey cells.
Or just to relax with Poirot, Hastings, Miss Lemon and Inspector Japp.

Indeed - such an enjoyable series. Although usually about murders, the series was always delightful. Too, the period detail is so appealing. The various characters, and their environments, genuinely look and seem like from the decades being depicted. The series' nostalgia factor is outstanding.
