Item: Mystery Science Theater 3000
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: This show is marked as "cancelled" but a new season is currently airing online, officially referred to as Season 13: https://www.gizmoplex.com/products/mst3k-season-13-the-gizmoplex
One way or another, I'd like to see the current season added.
One option would be to add the newest season as Season 3 of this reboot show, as IMDB does: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6782014/
Another option would be to add the online version as a new show.
However, I think the ideal would be to list all 13 seasons and specials under a single show, as it is referred to on the current official website from the creators, and as Trakt does. Season groups could be used to differentiate the various incarnations. https://trakt.tv/shows/mystery-science-theater-3000

I'm not sure what is best here. I'm not familiar with the series and I don't know which option is the best for "Season 13". Users added the new season as a new series https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/203187-mystery-science-theater-3000
The only thing I know for sure is that the Netflix original was released as a different series and should remain it's own entry.

Not according to the OFFICIAL streaming service, the Gizmoplex: Season 11, Season 12, Season 13
This should be one single series with 13 seasons.

The fans that are arguing for it to be one series with 13 seasons ARE familiar with the series. I have given you definitive proof that the creators of Mystery Science Theater 3000 want to call them seasons 11, 12 and 13. I don't see any way to argue against that.

If you don't want to follow TMDb's guidelines that's fine. You don't have to edit.

What is the status of getting this fixed and merged to one show?
Season 1 of this,
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/203187-mystery-science-theater-3000
Is listed as Season 13 from the creators, https://www.gizmoplex.com/products/mst3k-season-13-the-gizmoplex

Season 13 premiered on Gizmoplex, so in this case it definitely is the original official release. Season 11 and Season 12 were the 2 seasons that premiered on Netflix originally. But again, Gizmoplex is run by the show's creators and they are including these 3 seasons in the original numbering.

An issue I have with this statement is how inconsistent the rule is applied throughout TMDB. Look at Futurama for example. The show is one continuous entry even though it has been cancelled multiple times and originally aired on 3 different networks/platforms that I am aware of: Fox (first few seasons), Comedy Central (the revival), and now Hulu.
Even looking at the original entry for MST3K (seasons 1 through 10), 2 different networks are provided: Comedy Central and Scify.
I agree with you that the decision is confusing/not easy, but I am leaning more in line with merging all three series because I do not see any real value in it being 3 different show entries regardless of who "originally broadcast it". Other shows on the platform line up with this sentiment.
I also think a serious discussion on the rules should be had at some point because all this is doing is creating bloat for something that is arguably just a field in a database record. As someone that creates and manages databases, it bothers me to see the lack of consistency.
