I remember watching the 1965 version and yes, I was younger then but I still felt something for the characters, loved the robot and felt genuinely scared of Dr Smith . This show is nauseating in its cringe-worthiness and the writers have thrown in just the right amount of PC to satisfy most. No grit, they are all sanitised for the morons the producers think we are and was glad to get to the end of the first episode. No more.

Did the original series have any grit?
It was just campy nonsense.

I think Splinter meant 2018-grit.

I agree the original was a little camp, but then I was only about nine when I watched it and Dr Smith scared the life out of me. Perhaps what I really meant is that this new offering is all gloss and no substance. Not to mention that I don't like any of the characters except maybe the robot and the kid.

It was a different time, but I agree, this isn't working on several layers. I also agree that they did seem to get the kid and robot right...it's my favorite part.
