Siegfried was always my favourite character when I used to watch this show as a child. RIP Mr. Hardy, a fine actor.

Robert Hardy's portrayal of the real life veterinarian Siegfried Farnon as an eccentric, irksome, at times lovable character, was spot-on.
I loved all his quips.
Siegfried to Tristan: "In my considered opinion, you will never rest in peace. Your gloomy shade will be seen wandering pathetically round the many public houses you haunted during your lifetime. Haunted with the dedication that makes publicans for miles around rejoice at your approach and start planning foreign holidays."
Siegfried to James and Tristan: "Give me one good reason I shouldn’t worry leaving everything to you two?"
