As we're getting a whole new revamp, who would you most like to see as Dredd this time?
My top 3 choices are Ron Perlman, Ron Perlman and Ron Perlman.

I just don't think this character works.

So you don't think the character works in film? Or do you think he didn't work in the comics to start with?

Um... yes?

Haha. Why was that question confusing?
Anyway, us fans want an accurate adaptation of the character because the Stallone version got it so wrong and gave the character a bad rep.
A tv show could be a better format for the character because the comics are quite episodic. But if you hate him anyway I guess you wont be watching.

I would likely check out the TV series, I guess. I just don't get why people rave about the character.

Well, it depends how familiar you are with him. If all you know is the films then you probably wouldn't get why people rave about him. Even the more accurate Karl Urban version misses a lot. The comic is a satire on the bureaucratic facelessness of the law system. This is why we never see Dredd's face.
Both films miss the very black comedy of the comic. And in neither version is he as nasty. He would arrest people for jaywalking, owning a goldfish without a license, littering, no matter the circumstances. If adapted well it could be something very special.
