So remove the imdb links because they are about netflix serie, not the "original" one. And let people do the correct serie for their media players.

There is nothing to remove. This is not a different series, but only the same series cut differently.

Sure, keep the wrong one! lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Chapo_(TV_series) "El Chapo is a crime television series, co-produced by Netflix and Univision, about the life of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.[1] The series premiered on April 23, 2017 on Univision before airing on Netflix worldwide." According to wikipedia there is even 10 episodes in season 1, so your 8 come from nowhere... "co-produced by Netflix and Univision" so the Netflix one is as Original than the Univision one. The Univision had 10 episodes anyway, not 8... I don't understand why you insist to keep errors in the DB since 4 years now. There is a press release of Univision for the release of episodes 9 and 10 of season 1 : http://www.thefutoncritic.com/listings/20170519univision01/ So you were right, the Univision hadn't 9 episodes... but 10! Univision has a total of 35 episodes, you have only 33...

That's not how it works. The original version is the one that first aired on the original network. The original version of El Chapo began airing on Univision in April 2017. The international version streamed on Netflix almost two months later.

There's zero mention of episode numbers in the press release. All it says it that the season one finale aired at 9pm ET/PT and a special airing of the Facebook live after-show El Chapo Ilimitado followed at 10pm ET/PT. But in any case TMDb follows the original release, not the production numbers.

I've said it before and I still stand by it: everything pointed to Univision airing the show in seven episodes.

The original Spanish version aired in seven episodes for a total runtime of 439 minutes and 38 seconds:

  1. Capítulo 1 / Episode 1 103:45
  2. Capítulo 2 / Episode 2 93:29
  3. Capítulo 3 / Episode 3 47:31
  4. Capítulo 4 / Episode 4 46:10
  5. Capítulo 5 / Episode 5 43:56
  6. Capítulo 6 / Episode 6 48:19
  7. Capítulo 7 / Episode 7 56:28

The international version has a total runtime of approximately 423 minutes, split into nine episodes: https://www.netflix.com/title/80133042 So it seems to confirm the theory that Netflix split the first two episodes in two.

If anyone disagrees, it should be fairly easy to disprove. All of the Univision videos linked above have transcripts.

I don't know, even Univision talks about 9 episodes : https://www.univision.com/series/el-chapo/revive-the-best-of-all-episodes-of-el-chapo-season-1 Airing 2 episodes back-to-back count as only one episode? ... Rotten Tomatoes talks about 9 episodes, imdb and some Univision articles too. Wikipedia talks about 10 episodes (but they are wrong). Only on TMDB it's supposed to be 7, sometimes 8...

What I understand is Univision aired like that : APRIL 23 AT 8PM : Episode 1, APRIL 23 AT 9PM : Episode 2, APRIL 30 AT 8PM : Episode 3, APRIL 30 AT 9PM : Episode 4, MAY 7 AT 8PM : Episode 5, MAY 7 AT 9PM : Episode 6, MAY 14 AT 8PM : Episode 7, MAY 14 AT 9PM : Episode 8, MAY 21 AT 9PM : Episode 9.

I doubt that they edit the episodes to stream them differently that they aired them for the following reasons:

  • different episodes numbering between the streaming and the broadcast would have been confusing for the viewers

  • short delay (max one day) between the broadcast and the availability in streaming

Please notice the date: 29 AGO 2017. The airing of the alternative version happened months after the original release.

At least 7 episodes looks more real than 8. But you are doing too complicated. It's a partnership between Univision and Netflix, both agree it was designed in 9 episodes, there is no recut. Instead Univision glue 2 times 2 episodes for marketing reasons. And they came back to 9 as it was designed before the release of season 2.
