I remember reading about this case. It seemed during the sentencing hearing they had all these people saying they knew her father hit her, or that they suspected incest was going on. And I thought, "WHY didn't a SINGLE ONE of all these people pick up a phone and call CPS or the police or somebody who could look into it?"

The one I recall was her late mother's step-brother testifying that the mother's kidney problems that ultimately killed her were aggravated by beatings from Cheryl's father because she confronted him about molesting Cheryl. Based on that accusation, the guy caused his one wife's death so he could keep having sex with his daughter.
