I gather it's some really big name...but, who?
What kind of shit storm is he going to rain down on the Snells - who are relatively small potatoes, surely can't compete against an international cartel?

I'd say they can't. They got to content with their "small potatoes" operation. But now, since they've killed Del, hell is about to come down upon them. Marty brokered them a great deal and why they didn't take it is beyond me. The Snells are driven by revenge and that will end up being their downfall.

I'd agree with you.
Well, to be fair, they did take it. But then Darlene did what Darlene does, and now they've got to clean up a mess in hopes their deal will stick. As Marty said, he's put them in a position to achieve in a few years what generations of their ancestors never could. Why she'd threaten that with her uncontrolled bloodlust is something I would expect Jacob should really think about.
Sure hope so, they are the worst.

Yes, Marty makes me think of the line "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" . Just when Marty thinks he's about to be done with all this, something happens to make him realize he's not. Just think, he doesn't even know yet that what's her name has taken off with part of the $50 million that was hid in the cabin.

Jacob and Darlene may be the worst, but Peter Mullan and Lisa Emery are AMAZING. If they go down, I hope it's not too soon.

I imagine it will be a fictional cartel head. And like Jacob said, there probably isn't going to be any shit storm. It wouldn't make any sense for either the Snells or Marty to kill Del, so the cartel is unlikely to ever uncover the reason for Del's disappearance.

Ah, but the show is driven by shit storms! If the show gets boring, there'll be no compelling reason to watch.

True, but there are many compelling shit storms still in play. Covering up the murder will no doubt be one of them, but I just don't see that as a huge challenge. The bigger problem for Marty will be coming through on a plan that seems every bit to have pulled out of the back of his ass as his original Ozarks scheme except on a much bigger scale.

Fair enough! Either way, it has set up to be compelling, can't wait for season 2.

Tony Soprano. He used to run the New Jersey mafia before he joined the cartel.

I take that a joke but, for any who want to take it seriously, Tony Soprano is dead. He got whacked in the final scene of the show. And no, they would never attempt to retcon the Tony Soprano character into this show as if this show's actions were happening concurrently with the Sopranos while Tony was alive, because there'd be no room in the Sopranos as we knew it for him to be running this with no dialogue ever connecting to it. Remember, the Sopranos is based on a real life crime family with many locations and details that mirror the real life scenarios - the story has been told and has been resolved as it us.
