Debate The OA

I enjoyed the series for the most part, although I am confused about more than a couple of things. No big deal, it's probably my fault and I may have to rewatch or read the message boards to tie a few loose ends. My main problem with "The OA" was the dancing towards the last minutes of the finale. I mean, I get it: the dancing had a purpose, but it could have been shown differently. Seriously, it looked so goofy and stupid that I actually felt secondhand embarrassment. I have to say, even though I find most of the characters likeable (especially the teacher), for a split second, I kind of wanted them to get shot.

Yes, the riverdance would have been awesome! Lol OK, as long as they included the hissing and fluttering thing! 😆

A riverdance would have definitely got them shot.

Bystanders would have killed them had they started a riverdance.

I agree that the "dancing" was rather ridiculous. However, I do feel that it sorta came together at the end. Would real life hissing and gyrating stop a lunatic shooter? Maybe. Who knows? It's never been tried, as far as I know. Mass shooters like that are mentally ill people whose brains are broken. Nutty movements just might soothe away the crazy. We should all learn the moves just in case. Just don't tell the Republicans. They will add a new Amendment to the Constitution prohibiting citizens from stopping a gunman from exercising his right to blow us all away.

You might get lucky enough to have a shooter who secretly wants to be a professional dancer and the dance moves just might draw him in to join you.

Well the dancing ringleader did get shot. So you kinda got your wish.

I admit, I tend to like odd sci-fi stories, but my frustration with this series began in the very first episode where I found nearly all of the central characters to be unlikeable, but the premise was interesting so I stuck with it.

But then I saw... the dancing. My god. The dancing. I felt embarrassed watching this as soon as they introduced interpretive dancing could bring people back to life and open doors to other dimensions. Then that finale where they start dancing and the music is trying to convince you this is all really epic and instead I'm just laughing.

It was like that scene in Guardians of the Galaxy where Peter Quill starts gyrating his hips at the bag guy, except the laughs were intentional there. In the OA just regretted having wasted my time with this series.

That wasn't "dancing," but rather postures, or "movements" as they call them, more than likely based on Carlos Castaneda’s Tensegrity exercises.
