Loved the trailer, loved the first episode but little by little I lost interest in this one.
Personally I find that much storyline buried in flashbacks annoying, a little is great but basing your whole show on it is a bit much for me.
They should totally attempt more edgy crazy stuff like this - they can’t all be hits, got to have some misses IMHO. ;)

No one has seen this yet? Not even the pilot?

I too was underwhelmed by the show after being captivated in the beginning. I was surprised that Netflix renewed it so quickly. I think the next season has potential to be better, but we'll see.

I agree, I was intrigued at first but lost interest as the story kept going. I also didn't care about the highschool kids' plots

I'm honestly not quite sure what to make of it yet. I was really enjoying it through the first half of the season, but the second half I wasn't into as much. That being said, I'm glad the show has been renewed for a second season. I'll likely end up rewatching season 1 before season 2 comes out.

following what @WardenclyffeTower said, I'm on the lot of people who really liked it. But I'm not very optimism about season 2. The hints on OA being paranoid, in the final episode, left me thinking they're going with a realistic approach on the next season, which is kind of disappointing since I was really enjoying the whole sci-fi/mystic plot.

I loved it! Yes, the writing and pacing is a bit strange, but one thing this show has going for it is that it didn't go through the usual line of producers and big bosses alerting and shaping it into something they can sell. It genuinely feels like the creators made it how they imagined it and no one messed with their vision. Very refreshing and fascinating to see something original these days (and I'm not talking "Legion" original. That show just throws bright colours and crazy imagery in your face. All shape no substance. I'm talking the idea a bunch of people got so inspired with, they turned it into tv ). This is from an interview with Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij: "Zal Batmanglij: I don't think we ever thought about marketing, but we certainly did think about mystery. We were interested in the similarity between novels and long-form television, and we wanted to approach this more like you would writing a novel. You certainly wouldn't have all your main characters in the first chapter of a novel, and you wouldn't have a nuclear reactor of a story engine in the first chapter of a novel either. And like a novel, we did want it to climax quite precisely at the end, not just sort of finish up the storyline for the first year, but really have it be a transformative experience." the whole thing Yes, it's not the type of show you have on while doing chores. You have to pay attention and wanting to be drawn into their bizarre storytelling. I kinda wished i was less cynical when i watched it. I think i could have enjoyed it more. But i still was blown away at the end. Easily the best new tv show i saw in 2016. To whomever liked it, check other Brit's Zal's and Mike Cahill's works: "Sound of My Voice" 2011; "Another Earth" 2011; "The East" 2013; "I Origins" 2014.

I really enjoyed Another Earth and The East. I have not seen the other two, though. Yeah, I really need to rewatch The OA.
