@Moviedibert345 That's what I was thinking as well. The Spore (incredibly silly name) drive thing reminds me of the two part Star Trek Voyager episode Equinox. In that episode, the USS Equinox, another Starfleet ship that was stranded in the Delta Quadrant, was torturing sentient beings to power their ship.

That's probably the reason they can use for there being no spore drives on future series of star trek

I'm not sure if that's really so conclusive. Considering that they used a Starfleet officer later, and he didn't seem to be very "tortured" by it. What I took from it was that the tardigrade (?) wanted to go where IT wanted to go, not where THEY wanted to go. And it didn't like that. But I'm not sure that qualifies as "torture."

The whole idea was/is pretty stupid though, so overall I'd say it doesn't matter at all.

It's a relative thing. And these days, the swing to the rather lunatic side is pretty strong. Some people said elephants were being "tortured" by being in circuses. Some people say plants are being "tortured" by being harvested and eaten. I don't believe those either.

@gooner73 I don't have or can afford CBS streaming service (plus I can only play DVD's on my TV). So being the silly person that I am, I try to read about Discovery anyway I can, especially by reading the posts by you :-). But even a non-watcher like myself knows that torturing sentient creatures to get around faster is just WRONG.
