Discuss Marvel's The Punisher

The Punisher was great, but it's not about a Superhero. If you look at the most successful Marvel series to date, they have been about the least Superhero-like characters.

Frank Castle is not a superhero at all, and the Punisher it eh best Marvel series to date. Daredevil only technically has superpowers, and that's the second best series Third is Jessica Jones, who has superpowers, but rarely if ever uses them.

Then as they start getting into real superhero territory, like Luke Cage and Iron Fist, they lose the plot somehow. Defenders got even worse. And Inhumans was a farce.

The movies have given us real superheroes, without making them cheesy and over the top, or going to the other extreme and making them down to earth and boring. Why can TV not get to grips with this?

The only series that has come close to nailing it on all fronts so far is Legion. That is kind of it's own unique thing though. Runaways looks OK so far, but is heavily targeted at teens so doesn't appeal to me much.

Agents of Shield has its moments, but a lot of it is fluff and cheese. Cloak and Dagger looks promising, but I think it's another teen targeted series.

I have to say my favourite Superhero series to date(except maybe for Legion) is The Tick. Shame it's so short though.

Well, I liked Luke Cage and Punisher best out of all of them personally. My only complaint about Punisher was how he seemed to just recover from multiple gunshots and stab wounds like it was nothing. I know he was close to death a few times on the show, but it still seemed like he would just bounce back too quickly. Even for a comic based show, I had a hard time suspending disbelief on how much gore and violence he was able to endure without dying.

yeah with his recovery time it looks like it's been at least a week between episodes with his healing but the show doesn't really lets you know how long it's really been.
