I just viewed the first episode and I think there was a different actress playing Kate. IMDB doesn't list two actresses for the character. Am I seeing things?

I didn't notice it but it's possible. The show made a number of changes post pilot. Kevin Nealon didn't even join the show until the second episode. And Liza Snyder joined the cast late too as the wife.
