Since that episode and the episodes that followed. It looks like there was a house fire.

The way it looks is that Kate had a candle going right next to a centerpiece on the coffee table. Rebecca did move it, but I don't recall her extinguishing it. Looks like maybe the neglected candle causes the conflagration while Jack is fixing the fuse. Could be the house catches fire while he's in there and unable to get out on his own. Or, he does get out, but maybe he suffers from smoke inhalation. I thought I was so over analyzing his untimely demise, but here I am, at it again, LOL!!!!!!

I thought the fire was later - wasn't Kevin with his GF when he found out Jack died?
