In this episode, Wesley says that his father taught him baseball. But wasn't he like 5 years old when his father died?

They could still have tossed a ball around and used a light weight bat. Besides Wesley would turn out to be an almost Sheldon Cooper level prodigy, so at 5 he was baseballing at a 10 year old level.

Sheldon and Wesley were both mental prodigies, not physical ones. A 5-year-old playing baseball? Please.

Wesley only said that his father taught him how to play baseball. He never said that he was any good at it or playing at a competitive level in a team. He is a mental prodigy, so he can learn the rules and how to play.
Kids as young as two years old can be introduced to baseball, starting with tossing a ball at them and having them try to hit it with a bat. Of course, this is just for fun, usually playing at home, and the equipment used is for kids.
Physical prodigies can start very young and be good at a sport. This is Dontay Jr., who learned to play baseball at two and started in a team at three years old.
