The series is currently organized in one season only, although there are usually 2 to 3 episodes per year only. Since one main cast is leaving after episode 11, this might also lead to some inconsistencies in the main cast. Would it not make sense to split the seasons on a yearly basis? If not, what would be the solution of a main cast not being part of the show in future episodes?

How does the original network organize the episodes? Are they all released as season 1?

The original network does not organize them in episodes at all. They are handled as standalone TV films, and they are released as blocks of 2 to 3 of them each year. This is a good example for a missing category like "Movie Series" because although they might be seen as individual films, they share the main cast and also have partially an arc span over a couple of "episodes". When converting them as individual movies, you somehow lose the release order and it would also mean quite some rework. So I am hoping for an organizational movie series category, where you could assign individual but associated movies to and put them in order.

You can just add them as guest star instead.
