I have watched all the seasons and enjoyed this show which maintained interest throughout. My only disappointment was the tacked on gay kiss at the end which came out of the blue as the two characters had had very little to do with each other for months beforehand and one - strangely enough - had changed sexual course completely during that time. It felt wrong and somewhat silly.

I agree. To be honest, it seems like the use of sex is used to keep people tuned in. Some of it isn't needed and the scene you are talking about came across as a last minute change in writing, maybe to set something up for next season, but it did seem to come out of nowhere. although like i said, it seems like a lot of scenes are just thrown in to keep viewers tuned in. and it's a shame, because there is some really good writing throughout the show.
